Your idea of cute is obviously a bit different to most people! - To me they look like Pop figures with that top heavy, all head no body look. I'd put the name 'Satan's Rectal Polyps' on the box.

It is but who the hell is buying it?

Supply and demand... surely if people weren't buying it, the supply would dry up.

There are copious amounts of this trash and, based on this thread, it would be easier to post the non-fugly new soft vinyl than post every POS that is being made.

Oh i don't know mate, i'm having a right old laugh taking the piss out of it all.

I find the so-called 'customisers' way more depressing. It seems like everyone and their dog is out to ruin toys. I've seen so many beautiful Marmit Gojira's ruined by so called fans of the hobby, it sucks. Like this guy and his 'one-offs' he's so bloody proud of ....

I feel like a lot of these are bought for fake “hype” and then attempted to be sold off weeks/months later for pennies.

I don’t think most of these sell well. Always seems like it’s some new company who sputters out a few micro-runs, Before realizing no one wants them.

I thought so too, but trust me, I see multiple runs on a lot of these eyesores. It certainly appears like they sell well enough. There's people out there collecting this type of toy, but most of them aren't members of Skullbrain.

I can get the appeal of cancer toys or toys with dicks, vaginas, pig hitler, poop, whatevyou. It’s ‘subversive’, ‘fun’ and all.
I do not get how people can be interested in ruining great toys with poor paint apps and other buy those. It’s the saddest thing. I am wondering how they’re made. I mean... some are straight up poor painters, that’s fine. But to get all the worst colors at the worst places must take some rage, some hate...

I think they don’t actually sell out, just something they post so people think that? I’m guessing most of them end up in the ET video game landfill.

Better yet, I'd like to see them melted down and recycled into lawn furniture!

I can't help feeling sad when I see most 'customs'. I wish these coat-tail riding bastards would find another hobby. Better yet, why not make their own toys and paint those, either way, I just wish they'd stop defacing other people's work.

Buy a toy . . . spend precious time, effort and hard-earned $$$ on materials, electricity and cleaning equipment, whilst risking the inhalation of carcinogenic toxins . . . just, in most cases, to demonstrate to the world that you really don't have the talent or skill to improve on the original manufacturers vision and make the toy worth even less than the original.

Stirling fuckin' work all you airbrush gods!

Indeed, my biggest reason for disliking todays 'customs' has a lot to do with that. I feel most current customisers use the toy as a platform to demonstrate their skills (or lack of) and they show very little regard for the toy itself. They dont compliment the toy, they detract from it.

Of course that's not true 100% of the time - you can tell some painters have their heart in the right place, but most of them seem to use the toy as a blank canvas to play with, which is totally missing the fucking point. The toy is everything. It should always be the main focus when you look at it. Not some distracting firework-show of a paint job.

No respect . . . I notice even some of the old hacks can't resist making-their-mark on some cool toys and failing miserably in this department.

This. This all they way. But then you see all the crap with dicks, vaginas, and hitler mustaches. But I mean you can’t add toy maker to rapper/poet/jerkoff/writer/singer/cuck/mindstronaut/android/toyruiner/whinycunt/bodybuilder/ballstroker/racecardriver/sculptor/chronicmasterbater/Pokémon/methenthusiest/donutfucker/urinalcake/buttplugaffecianado/barista to the mix. That would be over kill right?

    Double trouble.

Anyway, I like seeing a custom from somebody who respects the artists and the history of the pieces they work on. As was mentioned, though, lots of painters just have the “too much” gene. I think this is a problem that a lot of the original artists also have, when they are featured at gallery shows. I don’t want a toy with a galaxy on it, or one with extra plastic slopped over it in a drip effect that freezes the joints and obliterates the fine details.

Don’t forget the eye-burn chrome version with HAIR...

That being said, this person is a really talented tattoo artist... toy artist, not so much. Maybe sometimes it’s better to stick to what you’re good at.

Mark Nagata FTW. His mum should confiscate his airbrush, he's been a naughty boy with his paints.
