    Hi Guys,

I know this fiasco about "re-casting" or "making bootlegs" is bad news for all of us and it is not acceptable.

But i know Rommel personally and i am trying to reach him now to post a comment here and somehow shed light on these matters.

All i know for now is, I know Rommel is a very respectable person---i've met his family, a really straight guy---and have known him since the start of his Kozik's 36" Mao bust.

To my knowledge, he strictly adheres to arrangements and details of the his contracts with his client artists. I can only presume that noone---even Mr. Kozik---would deal with him if he is not trsutworthy and not true to his word.

As his friend, i guess all i'm asking for now is lets give him the benefit of the doubt ...

I must admit this looks pretty bad. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now but it would be really really sad if bootlegs entered this scene.

the photos are from my backyard...the molds there are being destroyed. not being glued...here's the story

there are underground casters/toymakers here(yeah we all love underground) that are casting these characters(MARVEL & DC)...as an artist i bought bulk in reason to painting them up my style, customizing them or just sell them to other friends/hobbyist like my self to have fun with. last year the local authorized distributor took notice of this underground thing we're having and had a heart to heart discussion with me...since i'm the only one who knows the people both upscale and the undergound. and they asked me if i can ask the casters to stop...and i did...I MADE THEM ALL STOP RECASTING...

the photo was taken when the casters brought all the molds to my place to be destroyed as evidence that recasting is being stopped.

I am now personally leading the drive against bootlegs here...
in fact the group of statue collectors here assigned me as the authority for the drive against recasting...and we've set up this forum for this purpose and educating the people here about collectibles...so my place is used a lot for gatherings, meetings, collectible reviews, and like this one mold destroying(haha).

    continued...

why the heck would i bootleg the mutant evil when i'm the one doing the official toys in the first place???

and i'm running late with my schedules since last year that bootlegging will just push my schedules way back.

sorry for my tone...but i'm just pissed that the photos i released to help the drive against recasting is being used to sabotage my studio...

I think that people were scared that someone may have cast the original evil in original size. I don't think anyone was afraid of someone bootlegging the 3 footer. Hope everything works out Rommel.

I don't think anyone accused you of bootlegging the evils. Its just doesnt look good to have a pile of bootleg molds being destroyed with the evils in the backround.

And just because you have an official run doens't mean that unnofficial wont get made afterward. I'm NOT saying that you would, but just saying people would think that.

Personally I would NEVER have done this at my location esp. in front of a wall with my name engraved in it.

To be associated with bootlegging in this small world also isn't good.

Possession is 95 % of the law.

Good luck and I hope all this works out for you.

yeah i know what you're saying slash...i was only trying to give evidence to marvel authorities that i am leading the drive here in our country to stop recasting...and even lent my backyard to be the "destroying" ground for the molds...i just didn't think that it will look bad on my part.

kladdict: don't worry...the originals will never be bootlegged here...i'll make sure of that...i'm an authority here when it comes to collectibles.

and anyways there are no vinyl factories here in the phils(no machines or technology)...all vinyls are now made in china.

    slash :)

The internet can be used to make any photo to look how the user wants.

Next time I would be careful about doing any thing controversial in front of a wall with your name engraved in it.

    Again good luck.

    LOL

Rommel, you might want to give us a 'photo tour' of your shop---looks cluttered from what we've seen, but interesting for sure here on the boards...i am willing to volunteer to shoot the photos :)

It may serve also as a photo update on the Evils?
