Technically, G's toy is not Zagora since it was just 'inspired by' the illustrations and old Daikyo toy at the time (much like all of their Zokki line).
nice to see the last few images to compare notes and nerd out a few minutes! perfect example of any given monsters character by TE, and also a few other beloved Zokki style Sofvi makers would be great to see other artists/makers take of Kougai Kaiju, Parabola/Brutal A etc.
Love that shot of the back spikes. Some really excellent sculpting right there. Probably an unpopular opinion around here, but I much prefer that version to the Gargamel one. But I also love the Huk' reissue too incredibly, so there's that. I definitely want to see more Daikyo and pachi inspired fellas coming from TE, which is what I was trying to say before. To me, this has been their best work to date. I guess it is just because I am more into dinosaurs and vintage stuff, but I really hope TE revisits that direction again.
Man, I'm going to have to eventually find a Mad Tank once they start showing up in the wild. That thing is awesome, and I totally snoozed on it, like a lot of other recent TE goodies. Not being rich sucks. Here's a recent shot of one of the first TE toys I ever acquired -- The elusive, and wonderful Gate Guard Karakk: View this post on Instagram
Wow, I have never seen that sculpt Jason. Very nice. Is this one of Sato's original character sculpts? I certainly come up totally blank in terms of historical influences.
Dang Jason, that is indeed a lovely acquisition. Like so many of the recent TE releases, you rarely get to see these out in the wild after their initial release. Really happy that you were able to track one down, and he looks gorgeous. I love me some tree monsters.
Yeah, I think if a new release is forthcoming, having a connect would go a long way to sate the desires of a lot of international TE fans. But I can appreciate that distribution of sought after toys is a complicated issue at the best of times.
I do love that Karakk and it took me quite a while to happen into one in the wild....... A rare behind the scenes snap of the Creature named BARANGA! Quite the Ladies Man, er um.. Root Being.. Dryad? Jason this pic is just so great I had to repost it- looks like old Kenner promotional images
This slipped by without much fanfare, I think it is the best version TE made and I just adore this color combo for Hukkokudo reproduction of this guy: マイティ
Please excuse me in advance, but I can't seem to find this information anywhere. Does anyone know why TE hasn't done a release of the MerMen trio in awhile?
I know for the most part, TE likes to do only a few releases of a toy, and then basically just retires the sculpt. so who knows when/if there will be another release of them...?
^ I think the same line of reasoning can be said about a lot of other specific sculpts / producers. Related: These guys kick ass. View this post on Instagram
Oh, my gosh, they are gorgeous. Those amazing paint apps on top of those killer head sculpts is almost too much!
They do indeed! I missed out on the last set due to lack of funds, but haven't been able to track any down since. Was really hoping for another release
I remember those. Now I regret not taking them more seriously. That shot of the trio is just classic!!!!
Kickass, John! This is is your new sculpt? Looking good buddy. Can't wait to see it up close and personal. I particularly like the legs. What height are we looking at here?
No it is a sculpt by Mr. Sato of sofvi doll being made by TE, it is called Planet Phantom, it is about this big (makes motions with hands) and will also have a stellar Omake! With the sustained interest in TE there are a few projects I am working on with others to have some classic TE made for a TE fanclub of sorts to release dolls in the USA We are talking about doing 9 dolls in all over a 3.5 year timeframe with 3 being new sculpts and then also the others being exclusives of TE existing catalog of work
Fly me to the Moon! Anyone here catch this set of Black Fishmen? 10.25.16 UPDATE These dolls are finally in the paintshop: These are now at the production phase after several revisions to improve the joints: There will be an Omake with the Parabola A and there will also be some additional dolls that will be made without preorder usually associated with production. Some of you may recall back when the Fishmen and Turkey Phantom originally dropped, they were already finished when made available. No pics were even teased prior to them dropping. Expect that on a few other dolls in the works.
