This is why this whole situation pissed me off so much. All of the love should be SHARED, and in such a niche community things like this can fuck up the entire ecosystem, injecting fear, uncertainty and doubt on all sides.

I may not be a lifer like some of you on here, but I consider myself a good judge of character and thankfully most of the artists in my shelf are actually really good people. @RETROBAND is doing some really unique stuff with MEATS magnetic accessories and clothing where each new drop is almost like a totally new toy (he even fixed some fucked up paint on my Zombi MEATS from shipping damage in a WEEK). @Rich has a gallery space and he's going out of his way to showcase artists he loves because he wants to share his success with those he feels deserve attention. @DanUnbox is a fucking Godsend to an industry where manufacturing your stuff is getting harder and harder, and I have heard nothing but effusive praise because he is such a standup dude. And while Violence Toy may not be stylistically up your alley, Zach and Ezra have their hearts in the right place and then some. Hell, Skinner doesn't sculpt anything and goes out of his way to praise Turtle Milk Studios.

THIS is the way the community SHOULD work: an endless positive feedback loop. Established artists hype new ones. Fans share their discoveries. Repeat ad infinitum.

A friend of mine told me he sold all his nags and felt relief because "he doesn't like what the nag scene has become". It's the toy scene at its absolute worst; fans sabotaging each other just so they can get theirs. Fans turned hype men creating a market out of thin air endlessly justifying things they know are total bullshit (when I first came here I vaguely remember someone saying $800 is reasonable because Shig "spends 3 hours on just one eye". He was so full of shit my monitor started to fart). Before he sold everything he showed me an nzombie. I loved it and wanted one really bad, but if it means giving 3k to some asshole for something he didn't make when that money could be better spent on new artists like @KingDoom, blackseedkenneth, etc, I know where I feel comfortable spending my money. On the off-chance I can ever score an affordable nzombie I would, I'll even pay a markup, but they're fucking VINYL, not pork futures.

If your passion around vinyl is the money the scene can bring, do us all a favor and apply for a job Funko making Pops. You're better off as an unrecognized cog-in-the-machine milking an over-extended scene for every penny it has than pulling out your dick and directly pissing in people's face like what's happening here. And hey, you can probably make more money too!

Can't say I'm into all of the makers you listed (or even know of all of them to be honest) but I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. Artists need to support each other, not take credit where credit isn't due. Thank your sculptors, lift new artists up, be honest and humble because at the end of the day people are giving money for your creations. If these toys aren't your babies, and you don't care where they end up, as long as the money goes in your pocket... then in my mind, my response is "fuck off." I don't have time or money to waste on asshattery.

JC is providing logs now. I can't read Chinese, but the fact they were even offered doesn't sound good for Tan.

I called out JC on his $555 blank garbage. The bullshit rationale is strong with this one!

So one of them is guilty of stealing credit for someone else's work, and the other is guilty of trying to tap fans like an ATM.

I said it once earlier and I'll said it again: fuck both of these guys.

Hey, at least SB has an apparently suitable heir to the Nag thread. ;)

If the two share similar pricing models a UNOBLAB will be offered in a 24 month installment plan

This whole thing seems like a marketing ploy. Posting about their drama that should be settled like adults feels like a way to just hype themselves up. I liked the Pigpigman and Telebobo sculpts enough, but not enough to spend the crazy prices they're asking. Now that they have this whole airing of grievances thing going on on IG it really, really makes me not want their toys.

Boy, am I glad that the only sculpt these guys put out that interested me was Telebobo. I would have LOVED to have one of those creeps (and the ones Paul painted are phenomenal) but my interest has been stripped away. What a shitshow this all is.

Unless China is BizarroWorld, I don't see how a situation where both parties look like assholes is a very well thought out marketing ploy. But then again, it's 2016 where Trump is qualified to be President and up is down, left is right, so at this point who knows

Idk, seems to me like a way to drum up more interest, for better or worse. I'm sure there are people that are gonna want them more now because of all the controversy. I could be wrong, but who knows. :|

Edit: also the fact that people are reposting all the announcements is pretty lame. Last thing I want is my feed to be blown up with this drama that should be settled in private

You know, you're actually not that far off with that statement.
If you see some of the shit that goes down in that place (captured on ICT), you'll really wonder what kind of world these people life in.

Because a couple of drama queens pitching a hissy-fit about some half-assed, overpiced toys pretending to be Japanese sofubi but ganked in China gets me reaching for my wallet everytime! :D:D:D

    Pure gold!

I just want one of 'em to say he's been sleepin' with the other guy's mom and now she's pregnant and they're gonna run away together but they can't because the other guy's his adopted brother from an illicit affair with the sculptors sister who's just inherited a small pacific island as part of an inheritance and . . . . TBC

See that would get me reaching for my wallet!
I'm sure it's gonna make most people (including myself) not want to associate with their toys, but you never know! Stranger things have happened.

Now Tan has offered refund to those waiting on pig pig man... I'd personally wait for your shipment... do. It let him buy your forgiveness with a free toy. In September you entered lotto or sale of pig pig man based on the price. You already paid it. He said its shipping in a week. The idea to take the $ back and the toy is a good one... but sounds like another move he can use to show "how good of a guy he is". Don't be a pawn.

its impossible to know who's telling the truth at this point. Tan says he sculpted everything. but co.oc says he did them..? and apparently he let JC be an investor/partner and gave him shares and then JC got mad when he didn't produce for the 2nd season..?? wtf?! I thought these were underground toys
I feel sketchy just posting in this thread.

Yeah i'm gonna cancel their shows for now.

    What a bummer.

It's a shame, the toys are still pretty cool to bad it's surrounded by so much drama.

neither of them have stated what will happen with the telebobo release from September? People paid for those toys and someone needs to make this right.

Has anyone considered Tan and JC are a siamese twin at war with itself? It happens to many who put forth
assertions of importance to themselves above the craft they produce. Toys are the ones that suffer from it.

Another point or open observation is why don't these two artists join SB to be a part of the discussion?
I know a few Japanese that do not belong and will never join but really do understand their sentiment.

This "Japan Toys" part of SB is getting soured instead of enhanced at this time regardless of situation.
I vote this thread is moved to "Whatever" since it sums it all up pretty much until sorted out/resolved?

@andy that is the 1st time I have ever seen "ganked" used in a verbal discourse!

I thought the $500 plus price tag for painted versions at NYCC was ridiculous, One of the blank flesh figures was offered then at the same price as the painted but no one wanted it. I can't believe he tried to sell more blank flesh figures at the same price after.

If this is confirmed then, from my personal point of view, this is a major issue / scam because Tan sells his stuff justifying the price by the fact he has to have the blank figures casted in Japan. And the Mimimonster figures have a "Made in Japan" stamp.
