Those IKB auctions were something, I have been watching a few of them recently. The crawling version is actually my favourite of them all, and seeing one come up for sale with the original header was a great treat. I would love a chance at the artwork alone, but of course this is a dream I realise. I would not be surprised at all if some of the really heavy hitters of collecting (including some from here possibly) came out for this auction. And yet, even with that being said, I think the price was very reasonable. I expected it to go far higher, and when you hold that up against the $1k plus mark that brand new toys go for these days (or even more, if we want to look at a recent Medicom exclusive) than this is a no brainer (no pun intended). Looking at the King Joe, on the other hand, one can see the extreme versions of collecting. It is such a choice piece, there is not questioning that at all - but that figure, on a toy, holy cow. That is an annual salary for a good portion of people. Then we are talking the insurance, provenance, not being able to see it in person, etc. I have no doubts on this toy itself, I am just saying as an example. How can you just drop cash like that for a [standard] internet auction? I am blown away, but of course impressed. Anyway, happy that we have the lovely pics to save here for future reference, because I know I won't ever be in that league remotely.
