Bullmark mini Mothra Larva - sold for ¥100,010:

It's wild how much these little guys go for, but they are rare as hell due to only being released in the UFO set:

@djkemp - I'm probably in the same boat, and I would want to prioritize the Ghidorah and MechaG from that set as well... ah well, goals. :)

Shoot, seeing just one of those in the wild is a pretty nice treat, but having two pop up, together, and both with the packaging/headers too, that is just astounding. :o I am guessing these must have stayed together from one of those random old shop clearouts or something along those lines. Real treasures, I would love to be able to add one to my own collection one day. Of course, at 150円, it would be even more ideal.

Would you believe that just a couple days ago, this guy was under 2000円? Yep. And then this happened (mostly in the last couple hours). Eeep. I have always been hunting for one of these toys - it represents a real 'grail' for me - and, despite it being largely unobtainable, I have not given up hope. Such a profoundly wonderful figure. A benchmark of Bullmark collecting, in my opinion. And ol' lucky Paul has had once since childhood! :)

I actually thought this guys might go less noticed (and of course, the low sitting bid got my hopes falsely up, only to obliterate them completely) because the thumbnail image for the listing didn't show his fists; even the first several images in the listing don't show them - hence it might have been mistaken as incomplete. No such luck I am afraid. Anyhow, without further jibber-jabbering over toy dreams, I give you the pr0n:

@ultrakaiju - Steve, I had set an alarm for early this morning (PDT) to check the price in the last 20 minutes, and was disappointed to see it was already above 60k JPY. I also thought this one might slip by the auction hawk radars with the fists and eight (!) missiles only showing on the later photos. It seems you and I were not the only ones...

I have also tried to pick up any junkers to salvage launchers, fists, or missiles, but they always seem to sell for above $100 USD regardless of condition (no tail, etc.):

That's...actually not a bad price at all for a loose/near-complete Mekamachine MG.

Haha, no, don't get me wrong, I don't think it is outrageous at all. I would happily dump my money down in front of this guy, if he would come home with me, over any of the tack that gets the IG collectors riled up these days - the only thing is that the wallet does not oblige. :|

That is without a doubt outrageous. These 'neo' Buta collectors - for lack of a better phrase - are seriously destroying the hobby. (Okay, take with a slight does of hyperbole, but my point stands) Whether it is a few individuals driving this, or a large cohort, I don't really care; but I can attest to it crushing the few remaining parts of real joy this hobby holds for me. :(

Yup...VERY cool. But I wouldn't want the carded set...because I'd want to open it and play with them!

I have the White Base, Gundam, and the Zeon suits...I just need the Guncannon, Guntank, and Core Fighter. Y'know...the most expensive/hardest to find ones!

Yeah, thank for saving those photos, Mark. That giant Ghidorah was a really nice example to see pop up for sale. As you said, as much as I am not all that fussed by packaging and such (wanting to play with my toys, as Sanjeev said) I am still amazing and impressed when stuff like this lasts, especially when it is so 'transient' like these bags. I would love a good look through that insert pamphlet. Really cool to see, and I am not surprised it ended so high; this is likely going to a really critiquing collector.

Super rare! Marsan Godzilla 1 period J tail!
    Went for: 350,000 yen
It is a beautiful piece but it is unfortunate that it has a cut on the right foot, I think that should demerit a little the price of the figure.

In itself it is not a figure that can be considered rare; the rare thing is to see it in its original packaging.
    went for: 337,000 yen

Shooooooot! That is a crazy premium for some packaging on this toy. Considering the wonderful licensed 'grails' that fit in that price range, I am honestly quite surprised. I mean, I love the figure, but dang.

It's a light blue painted yourself double stamp Marusan Goji, you don´t see this color very often, but I know that @deafmetal can tell us more about this figure.

@Alebrije - Roger, thank you for posting this auction. I believe this is a rakugaki/paint-your-own Gojira that was released as a blank doll on light blue vinyl, and also has the remains of a child's vintage paint work. I have seen examples of the rakugaki with left-foot, right-foot, and now double-stamps. Here is another example:

I am curious if the dolls were sold with red, yellow, and blue paint? I have a photo of a reissue doll that included what looks to be paints and brushes directly in the bag.

I have a backlog of interesting auction results to post as well.

Heh...I get a kick outta folks referring to these toys as "dolls". Makes me wanna dress up my Goji's and stick 'em in a Barbie Dreamhouse! No, I have nothing useful to contribute to this conversation.

Wait, I thought that was just standard procedure. I guess I have been using my Dream Van all wrong.

    * To be completely fair to all parties, they also equally tend to sport accessories such as helmets and fatigues from Barbie's GI counterparts.

Ah yes, let's have the old doll vs action figure vs poseable toy debate...
