    The Mecchara went for a record buta price for standard figures. The pink Hare Hare is so nice.

    Prices are all over the place these days. Former rarity/availability doesn't seem to matter with a lot of the new buyers. I think they don't know or don't care, and just have the money to burn to buy a figure that they gotta have right now.

    Perhaps it's the HxS crowd, looking for a nice omake for their toys? ;)
    I was hoping to sneak in a low bid for the Mecchara (last year it was quite low), but what a shocker to wake up and see the final ending price! :?

    p.s. I noticed the buyer for Hare Hare has over 25,000 purchases/reviews. Wonder if it's a toy dealer? Will it show up on Mandarake for 80000 JPY? :lol: Or perhaps it's a deputy service, hmmmm...

    Those prices are idiotic. Nice colorways for toys that don't show up every day, but I've seen the blue Mechara sit around for 80 bucks for weeks in the BST. And that Hare Hare is certainly not Buta grail status.

    Someone is seriously ill informed.

    Wow, that is sheer bonkers! Those auctions (and the prices) are nuts. And just when I was thinking it would be so nice to just be talking about simple and fun Buta toys again on this forum, rather than all the blather about inflated prices for the latest and greatest. :( I do not like this trend at all. I am already priced so far out on a large portion of this hobby, it hurts to see it affect [even more] that little corner of an already depleting and difficult toyline. Ah well, guess it is all about just enjoying what you have these days, and, (David, I am looking in your direction), being envious of those able to build massive Buta families when such a thing was actually still a possible feat for a reasonable human.

    I'm hoping that the reason behind those crazy bids is a combination of what Michael and Daniel said. Perhaps the bidders involved will tire of this "fad" and move on, and leave us nerds to our own world :). I wouldn't despair yet Stevie! ;) On the other hand, Deevis must be sitting on a rather large vinyl fortune! :D

    Certainly a nicely balanced and yet fresh looking display up there ... I would kill for the Ark Baltan in one of the other pix on that gram. Very clean and nice.

    Just wish the high rollers would get bored and move onto sneakers or something.
    Hare Hare and Mechara were marked up to about $58 US in 2012 or so.
    I thought that was high at the time. Back to photos...

    The best of the worst was seeing what the 2 gojis went for last week. The medicom goji is still available NIB @ 89 +s/h here in the US. The open mouth goji was paint spattered evidently and still the price for the 2 was higher than that. Somewhere in the 30k + ¥ range. Oh well. This may be the year that I make good on my plan to start collecting Moomins.

    There are a ton of Medicom Gojis out there. Those other ones are older and much harder to find, even with orange foot discoloration.

    Part of collecting Buta is definetely taking loss after loss on YJA for older stuff, before you luck out. However, when you do win it is extra sweet.

    Wow, you don't see that one every day. Always thought it was odd that the Giant Gorilla from the old flesh run was painted differently than the dinos.
