    So, I have been racking my brain as to how I would make this initial announcement and my tip-toeing into the unpredictable and mind jarring world of toy production. And, the only conclusion I came up with was too simply yank the bandage and let the chips fall where they may. So here goes;

    Kaiju BBQ Toys Presents

    Figure Name: Shishi
Artist: Miles Nielsen (Munktiki / Yakimon)
First Release: Gold Lame w/ Silver, Black & Red Paint
    Exclusive: Five Points Festival
    Size: 10" x 10" x 6"
Articulation: 7 Points (Heads, Arms, Wrists & Tail)
    Production: China

Shishi comes from Miles' Yakimon ceramic line. Influenced by vintage Japanese toys and culture. I don't think Miles needs much of an introduction here on the boards, as he is already well respected. Known for his creativity, quality and talent. If you aren't familiar with Miles, check out his websites Yakimon and Munktiki. It's well worth your time. Miles and I have been discussing working together for literally years. I think as far back as the group show at TAG on Melrose. Yikes!

Kaiju BBQ... came up with the name after an initial LA based collector get together. Thought after that initial meet up that another was in order, but maybe something even more casual, like that of a backyard bbq and small toy swap. It never happened, but the name stuck with me. The ultimate goal / mission is to work with talent artists (as I am not one of them) and produce high quality toys / sofubi, limited runs, at old school affordable prices. Pretty simple.

Feel free to follow Kaiju BBQ on IG @kaiju_bbq

I'm interested in the boards feedback. I wouldn't post it here if I didn't. I don't expect everyone to be on board with it, but that's okay. Thanks for the opportunity.

PS - Miles is having a shindig in his hometown of Astoria, OR. It's only July 13th. More info is available on his IG accounts and probably via his websites. He should also have a small handful of the Shishi figures on hand for those of you who are interested in checking them out.

Got to see the golden duo at Five Points at the Kore Kore booth. Talked with a dude that's workin' with John named Blair. Very, very nice guy! Initially, I thought this beast would be a bit on the smaller scale, maybe 6". When I approached the booth, though, I was surprised(in a good way) to see that it was much larger! Quite beefy, as well. It comes with a little ball omake that fits just inside the under curve of the hand, which is a pretty playful stance as is, but huggin' the ball makes it pretty fun. The faces are expressive and the heads articulate. Very well sculpted and balanced! I'm lookin' forward to some painted versions!

I was actually really kind of hoping that this was an announcement for a legitimate BBQ get-together where we could all hang out and be awkward together while eating pulled pork sandwiches. If not, that's fine too i guess...

But in all seriousness Munktiki is the shizz. As a huge tiki and polypop nerd, I have some Munktiki stuff in my swanky hutch at home. Very cool toy and great color choice.

Saw it at 5 points and this toy looks great, big beefy and a super clean sculpt.

I was wondering if anyone here can give me some input as to brick and mortar retailers out there that might be interested in carrying my Shishi figure in their shop? Like everyone else making toys, I would like to see them in more shops for obvious reasons.

I am more than willing to work with retailers to make it worth their shelf space and time. Consignment terms, fair wholesale costs, etc. If anyone on the boards can let me know of some possibilities, I would sure appreciate it. I have five colorways now. Thank you everyone

Heavy GID milky vinyl with blue, pink, black, red and metallic gold sprays. Yet another homage to a couple of Goji's from waaaaay back in the day
