Toys Are Sanity. Coma21. Blk Clvd. Scum Pit Toys. These monikers all come from and exist through the chaotic, umbrella brain that is Mikee Riggs, whom, has tirelessly created, supported and heralded the sofubi scene in droves. Debuting into his artistry a whopping decade ago with his original Sewer Creep, as so lovingly featured in the Fugliest Toys thread, and re-emerging from the depths in 2019 with his Kvltvs fight figures, he has since unleashed a wave of creativity and push that would most likely break a lesser body and brain. Speaking of unleashing a wave of creativity, let’s step into Mikee’s ten year tenure of toys: his first solo show, completely conceptualized and executed by himself, 50/50. The concept is simple. 50 one offs, all mashed up and painted by Coma21 himself, and all offered for $50. The offerings made readily available to attendees swept through the Scum Pit like a plague of locust, chewing through your collections as if they were crops. And not only were there toys, of course, but also campy, 80’s horror movies with theater exclusives, towers of pizzas, tunnels of tunes via DJ, and frozen fun in the style of snow cone treats. Reminder: all of those, sans the movie, is done out of the actual home of Mr. and Mrs. Scum Pit. Many a smile and conversation were shared, as was excitement over just *how* much was left to be revealed ONLY by attending. See, not only were there 50 one off fighters for $50, showcasing Mikee’s immense love and appreciation for the fight figure, but also runs of his own toys to further satiate the collecting itch of attendees. Also making an appearance was the 50/50: Ten Years of Toys book, with photos of all 50 one offs shot by myself, an incredibly colorful and smooth layout by David Coffman of Secret Handshake Toys, and a selection of fantastic write ups by Mikee’s close friend Tone. Mikee poured his heart and soul into his first solo show, much like he *always* has when it comes to anything toy related. In these photos you’ll see dedication, creativity, uniqueness, and a whole lot of fun had by the boatload. So congratulation to Coma21 for a nearly sold out first solo show!!! I couldn’t be more excited, happy and proud of Mikee for the work he put in, proving to himself and anyone else that bare witness, whether it’s head on or from the sidelines, that he truly is an artist, and he more than earned his flowers.

Thank you, Mikee, for all that you continue to do for the hobby, for collectors and for the community. You exude a bright and fun attitude towards collecting that is sorely missing in so many facets of this hobby(in my opinion), and we’re grateful to have your creative body of light.

An absolute insane weekend. Mikee blew it out of the park with what he put together for all of us to enjoy across 3 days. It was amazing to see such a wide variety of people come to come support him, it really showed the impact and importance of community.

Not sure what is going to leave more of a mark on me though, the autopsy room scene in Reanimator or the flash tattoo I got at the event.

I can’t really express how important this weekend was to me. I had the idea in the summer of 22 and basically from that point forward it was all I could think about. I set out to do an event that would push me to be a better painter. But as time passed more and more it became about doing an event that would just be the most positive experience it could for anyone that has helped me continue on this journey. I reached a point where in my head I thought “what’s every cool thing I’ve hoped a maker would do at a show but hasn’t happened or happened and made the show for me.” Then I set out to do them all. Thank you so so much to everyone that attended. To those that missed out no worries if you can make the journey the Scum Pits foundations are built on this being a community for everyone so I would love to see everyone on that header wall at some point. Again thank you all. Next May is going to be even crazier!

An excellent write-up, Robert, thank you for this. Sincere congratulations to Mikee and all that could attend this great event. It's so wonderful to see someone able to stick with their passions over this time, overcome all the inevitable hurdles, and still have enthusiasm and make wonderful things like this a reality. Plus keeping it all about the fun, enjoyment, and sharing with other like-minded weirdos, that is what this hobby is all about. Very well done, and kudos on the journey to get here, Mikee. Looks (and sounds) like it was a blast and epic success. I look forward to Part II: The Re-Scuminning.

I look forward to return to the slime covered fun of the 50/50 at some point but next years show will be more like a Black Mass.
That said we had so much fun and reveals I’m still trying to get everything sorted out.
Definitely hoping to start showcasing more stuff here first on SB.

To chime in here - 50/50 was a fun idea Mikee had, that I watched evolve into the monstrosity of a show it became (in all the best ways!). Even as a local/friend, there was always one more trick up his sleeve that I hadn't seen or heard of. The venue being small & intimate is an upside, both in terms of enjoying your time spent with friends, and being able to poke and prod Mikee about any questions about the pieces you might have. Between the Tattoos, DJ, and sweet drinks, there was definitely something for everyone!

In terms of toys, Mikee really came out swinging. I brought home all Kvltus figures, but can't express how happy it made me to see some unique and weird takes on some familiar sculpts, with some nice variety. I had my eyes on an Ooze bat mashup but went a bit of a different route, but there wasn't a bad piece in the entire show. Plus, a phenomenal book to look at everything I missed that Robert absolutely crushed the pictures on.

I think realistically, I just have one statement to make - If you can get here, you need to be here.
