Very sad. Here's an old thread we had here when the documentary about him came out: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/the-devil-and-daniel-johnston.5219/
Sadness. Too many talented musicians dying recently. David Berman a few weeks ago and now this bums me out
I remember my brother playing Hi, how are you, for me for the first time, and was instantly hooked. His music and his message will never be forgotten.
Oh shit, that's right... Roky Erickson also died this year. I forgot. So many great songs. So, so many people covering his material...
I've been listening to his and Jad Fair's "I Met Roky Erickson" on repeat. Texas grew a lot more baren this year. I'm trying to focus on how remarkable it is that Daniel made it this many years in the world, as when I saw him perform in Detroit over 25 years ago he very much looked like he was already at death's door. He was happy, though, and the giant sweetheart in person that you would imagine.
Didn't know about this until the algorithms said that maybe I should: You might want to spend a few minutes with it as well.
