One of the Mad magazine artists that help warp me as a child, Al Jaffe passed away today at a spry 102 yrs old. One of the orignals. RIP.

An OG like no other. He led a long and very productive life, but it is still quite sad to hear of his passing. A great of the comic, and any artistic, genre. I grew up on many well-read copies of MAD, and his name stood out to me even as a very young kid; one to be synonymous (not that I knew what this meant) with enjoyment, creativity, and quality. RIP to an excellent artist who gave me many fond memories. Whilst I never had the knack to take this into any artistic craft of my own, he nevertheless gave me great inspiration with his work.

RIP, Al. I will always remember his paperback collections, too.

Man, looking at a list of luminaries from my heyday of reading, it looks like only Sergio and Angelo Torres are left.

A true legend. He didn't retire from MAD until he was 92! Rest in peace.
