Man I was really bummed that I didn't submit something, But now that Im reading this tread Im kinda glad I didn't. From what I saw from the preview's I thought they were all dope!
Competition's are a tricky thing. I used to run a annual MC Freestyle competion "Freestyle Olympics" and It was always hard to judge folks, and there was always some feelings hurt. I myself have entered many "producer battles" and never won. It always got under my skin, but it also fueled the fire for me to make something even bigger and better. So for the folks that didn't win take that frustration and put it into your next sculpt.

Remember- Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Congratz to everyone! and keep on keepin on :)

I don't think anyone was upset at not winning. Just having judges participate in bashing the show as a whole.

i will be very happy to be there and i will wait to see more photo to judge
the works of minus famouse artists.

I'm disappointed about behavior of gallerist that after toys come back in italy ask me to re send all
and after i discover on their site that i and dedo werent in the game and the real show was the first day.

I thought that they judge pieces after some days from the starting of show.

Why say me to re send if we arent in game????

    Nope, not at all. ;)

Looked like the people at the show had a good time. Wish I could have been there to catch up with everybody, talk about toys, and drink too much free beer.

I guess all I have to say is no one who entered the show should care because it was judged by a couple of people with some blogs ( nothing special ) wearing dumb hats ( I really can't stand ) and a guy wearing sock shoes ( for reals ) !!!! Yikes..... the only one that I talked to was Mr. SpankyStokes, the others were there but seemed to cool to mingle with the Artists.
But anyways, these people's opinion don't mean much to me, and I got an ok review. All I care about is what my friends think and the fine people here on Skullbrain! ;)

I agree, Bravo... The only problem stems from, judges, publicly two-ing, all over everyone. (A little grammar humor folks)

To clarify, this show was put together in under two months, hence the open call.
Having a 100% stellar showing would be impossible.
What was possible was showing the range one specific medium can provide.
The judging, that was so prizes could be given away.

Also Matt wasn't a judge. He was just there.

I thought the show turned out really well given the time crunch. Like Aaron said, the idea was to show the full spectrum of people working in resin today. I definitely think we got that. The prizes and judges were there to make it fun and try to mix up the group show formula a bit.

Well, then the message was muddled somewhere in there, because the sight of prizes and the word 'juried' has whipped the 'opinionated' community into thinking that this has to be 'serious business'.

Wow - just read through the 3 pages of posts on this thing... I think I agree that the 'judged' aspect was a bit odd. But if you had a piece up for viewing in the Toy Art Gallery in LA, then you could be sure (no matter what the intent of the show) that you would be judged - by plenty of people who have a clue and even more who don't. Seriously - how many of us have dealt with people asking questions like "huh, what does it do?" and saying things like "oh, those are funny little figurines..." We should all be just about immune to any and all 'afronts' that might happen, right?

Bottom line - congrats to everyone for getting into TAG for what looks to be an amazing spread of toy art. And thanks to all the folks who appreciate, have purchased (or will purchase) and take the time to check out all the SICK resin pieces from the show!

And @ plastichunter - you rule dude! Our little community needs people like you to lay things out so cleanly and intelligently. Thank You.

It was a pleasure and an honor to be able to participate in this with so many talented people. I can't wait to see how far we have all progressed in the next similar show.

this reminds me of the stripper contest i entered once... i wasn't expecting to win, but i've always wanted to be on stage, perform & show off my body. then nigel and simon told me how much i fucking sucked and gave the award to Demi. bummed me out, but i had fun anyways!

Right on, a picture from the show!
I just want to thank all the artists who dedicated their time, creativity, and love into their pieces to make another great resin show happen. I have mad respect for anyone that takes the time to figure out the process and is willing to subject him/herself to poisons in order to create something unique and beautiful. I love seeing a spectrum of different styles in one show. I chose the piece i submitted, specifically for that reason. Just wish i could have come up to meet some of you in person...oh well next time.
I feel fortunate to have a community like this to share with.
Let's all keep pushing the boundaries of what resin/plastic can do!
