www.recordstoreday.com anybody into any of the releases listed? How many board members still buy vinyl records besides me?
I occasionally buy vinyl-only releases or reissues. Vinyl-on-demand has some great stuff if you're into industrial and minimal electronics.
I used to but they are too tedious for me. I am soo happy these folks outlasted the big boxes and the indy video chains that did too. He who laughs last laughs the hardest!!
can someone hook me up with the Sick Of it ALl 7" i went to get the QOTSA and they were sold out, and not many places got the SOIA 7"
I picked up the following... Sonic Youth "Hits are for Squares" Flaming Lips "Dark Side of the Moon" Beastie Boys "12" Monsters of Folk 2x12" I also picked up 7" by Tegan & Sarah, Flogging Molly, Ted Leo, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Gogol Bordello. It was fun and it's always nice to help out indy record stores!
I got Devo Fresh, What We Do 12-inch single on blue vinyl featuring new tracks, 45 RPM REM Chronic Town EP 12-inch repress on blue vinyl QOTSA 10-inch Feel Good Hit of the Summer Them Crooked Vultures 10-inch Soundgarden yellow vinyl 7-inch Hunted Down/Nothing to say I also picked up Baroness Blue green vinyl double LP, Thou black vinyl on Southern Lord, Jimi Hendrix Valleys of Neptune CD, MudHoney Superfuzz Bigmuff deluxe CD.
Got beastie boys, flaming lips, pavement, soundgarden and some other stuff. Anyone get the blur single in the UK? Actually missed the beastie boys at my first stop because I couldn't find it
Missed the Beastie Boys mystery EP (I came 5 min after the store opened and it was crazy crowded - yay for the independent stores!) But picked up the Flaming Lips Dark Side of the Moon. Also picked up a Stone 7" w/ an unreleased track from the Exiles on Mainstreet recordings. Old stuff, but the Stones were great when they were in their prime.
Is this anything like Free Comic Book Day? Sorry I didn't hear about it sooner, but I guess I really only collect vintage vinyl.
Anyone snag it for you? I think I saw it at the shop today. I'm up here in Canada though, so it would cost more + shipping would be more etc etc. Let me know if you want me to try to grab it for you though.
I'm on my way to a shop now so I'll keep an eye out as well. Ah the joys of indie shops in the boonies!
i still buy and spin vinyl though there is no record store releases of what i buy as much of a convience Serato is there is nothing like hunting down and finding and owning a rare records puts toy collecting toy shame (everyday is record store day with me) always on the hunt
woke up too late, wasn't sure if i was going to even bother. decided to stop by the local shop about an hour ago... as suspected anything i would've been after was long gone... then i found the last copy of the stones 7" that someone stashed in the misc U section. so that was cool... for me, at least
I stopped for a while, but i'm back into it again these days. I still have most of my vinyl that I collected from age 13 on. I've actually been buying fresh copies of some more worn-out records from my high school days - Stooges, Ramones, Minutemen, etc. I still have the same Technics turntable I bought when I was 14 - I'll be 42 in September(!!!)
I pick up new and old vinyl stuff from my brother Skip Groff - he's owned and operated Yesterday and Today Records in Maryland for the past 30 years. He also produced and recorded new wave/punk artists in the Wash DC area in the late 70's/ early 80's including Minor Threat, SOA, Slickee Boys, Teen Idles, early Rollins, etc. More background here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limp_Records I am glad to see the resurgence in vinyl so please "Help a brother out" - check out his eBay store and website!
i went to both local shops yesterday, but they were out of all the good stuff by the time i got there saw some cool in-store live tunes though and bmsr actually posted some of their limited 2xLP eating us release on their site, so at least i scored that!
Does anyone know if the Ramones Mania blue/green vinyl ever came out? My stores didn't get any. Wondering if it actually got pressed in time?
