I LOVE that besides the bridge, you get the engine room with Scotty. That was the right choice, and way better than not making the secondary hull a "room" to play with. Now if they would just do the Enterprise D...

I dig the vibe of the older releases. Just simple and pleasant.

My defences were weakened and I ended up buying a few of the sets (Stay Puft, Ecto and a couple others...); still boxed and waiting for a display case. Have always love Playmobil, had it as a child, and ended up buying bits for the children when they were young too.

Glad I missed Scooby Doo because that would have been an easy sell to me.

The latest Star Trek is an excellent interpretation of a great vintage franchise.

The fantasy stuff from playmobil has always been so much fun. It’s the lego version of character design.

the older stuff is chef’s-kiss good. Love it. I’m glad I’m too broke to even start trying to collect these

Some of you may be aware, that Playmobil went through a stage (I don't believe they still do?) where they partnered with the German toy train company LGB.

LGB specialise in brass track outdoor, all weather, G-gauge (1:22.5 scale) trains - which are reasonably large for a toy train; not ride-on large but the right size for Playmobil figures! Hence, Playmobil partnered with LGB and did some great all weather outdoor sets. I am sure there are some great vids on YouTube of massive g-scale layouts in gardens; LGB themselves produced snow ploughs train accessories, etc, to allow owners to keep the tracks and layouts running all year round. As you will imagine, some people got heavily into it.

Playmobil did some great things with LGB before watering their sets down and moving to plastic track. This may have also coincided with LGB having financial challenges. I don't think it was heavily promoted in the US and Canada but thought it may be an interesting footnote in the Playmobil chat.

I admittedly am not familiar with the different train gauges - got more than enough addictions collecting habits as it is to control but I have seen some of the very large Playmobil train sets in the past (of years gone by, but not sure what era this collaboration might have been) but don't know that they were the LGB or brass track compatible ones, might have already been in the plastic era; though I think it was 80s. Some actually appeared on Mandarake recently which brought a lot of these memories back.

Anyways, it gave me a smile to see these, and momentarily contemplate them, and consider the dream set I could build and play with, but as I said, so many other toys to chase (as for us all). Anyhow, since you brought it up, thought I would mention; rather timely coincidence. So thanks @Mr Fox for mentioning it! :)

    * PS - I've got a Playmbobil story from my youth about a set that would knock your socks off, but that is probably one for and in person exchange

    * PPS - maybe it is the Canadian roots, but I relate way more to this sort of thing [above] than any of the normal passenger rail obsession that seems to be the norm in the UK and Japan

I feel compelled to point out the similarities between the cattle car and the porta potty my kid had when she was little. Coincidence?

^ Nice one, those are really cool and totally new to me; though I have no idea either if they could be already released. One to keep an eye for on the shelves, for sure.
