Ive been picking these up here and there for a little while now. I like that the sculpts are completely different from their mini/mid sized counterparts and they usually can be had pretty cheap. Anyone else collect these?
Very nice! Check out Super7 (the magazine) #13. I did an article on pendants. It is kind of heavy on Tokusatsu characters because that is what I am interested in, but there are also lots of very nice super robot pendants. I started with these as an inexpensive alternative to the standard size toys but soon realized that there are lots of pendants that fetch really big bucks such as any of the removable mask ones or the early Marusans. My favorite are the Gamera series ones. I still do not have a Viras but picked up a Zigra for less than 1000 Yen that I have never seen in any book. I'll post some pics of these soon. Nice collection...keep on hunting them down!
those vintage ones are wonderful. i thought they'd be solid plastic, not jointed sofubi. i normally don't like pendants because they're a pain to display hanging and usually aren't stable when standing. i've removed the chains on some of them (from none that are valuable!) and laugh at the funny little holes on their heads pendants with masks?! i'd love to see one of those in person.
These are definitely sweet as hell! Yeah, I've been trying to avoid getting into the super robot pendants (I've got a bunch of mini Popy sofubi...and I feel that's already crossing some sort of line! ). Then again, that larger Ninja Arashi is mighty tempting. Also, so is the...
Mark- thats one of my favorite S7 articles, Ive drooled over it often. Ultra999- I have the same problem, I put double-sided tape to make them stand up. Here are some photos of the masked pendants ultraseven (sorry for the crap photo) Tiger Seven- from a recent auction
all i'm going to say is that we need more mini toys with masks. how awesome is that. i can't get over that tiny ultra7 with an even tinier helmet. good grief! thanks for the double-sided tape tip. maybe poster gum would work, too, to keep them from tipping over so easily.
I've always had issues with pendants, I feel like they're ruined by that hole in the head. That said, I can see how they would be awesome for parents to buy their kids, especially in a city where your mostly walking. Borderline impossible to lose, and they leave your hands free to do other things...
Great collection! I really dig the Gomora the most. I've often seen it for auction, but other things always come up. While most of the others are deformed in their mini states, the Gomora seems to have nice proportions.
That Galtan header art is great! Heres some of the OG inspiration for them. The blue one kind of looks like Eleking, not sure who the other two are supposed to be.
The pendant sofubi are great, and this thread makes me think I should pick a couple up. What we really need now is pictures of you guys wearing them.
I agree w/ you on all points! Where can I get some? I will shoot many pictures and make sure one of these jewels ends up in a music video! Help?

I've no idea why I've never clicked on this thread until now... XVivaHateX, your introductory shot instantly became one one of my favorite pics anywhere on this entire board, and a couple of seconds later became my new wallpaper. The entire Ultra row is incredible; possibly the best Kanegon ever, and that Ultraman Jack is KILLING me! Instant grails, the lot of them. SO awesome. I fear my collecting life has been changed for good.
Couldn't agree more this is one of my favorite pages! I hope toy pendants make a come back in the future...I'm sure people would go crazy for a Grody pendant for sure! (hypothetically speaking of course) Of course I want a Bootleg pendant duhh!
gargamel went way of the pendant a while ago (see thrashmen above) also had a globby pendant with sdcc, i think clear red. there might have been some others that year, i cant remember. pendants are great, and this thread makes me hate myself for not using YJA more and more.
