This is one toy I've really been waiting on..Been wanting one for a long time, and yes those metallics do kick ass..
excited about a new version of this guy...the green one is one of my favorite toys...and I only found it because of a kind soul here... hopefully they put out a few more of him, as it warrants numerous versions...
Hell to the YES!! it's bout gotdamn TIME!! Still hunting for the green on to this day and this could not have come at a better time.
YES - more of these and a pink one in particular. I really dig this sculpt alot. I don't know the background on the figure, but it has an appealing whimsical quality to it. Standard size, yes?
Yup, the series is listed as being Vinyl Paradise Returns, so maybe we will be seeing some more "classic" Marmit sculpts being dusted off in the near future?
Thanks for the info, V. Very happy to see Marmit is re-releasing this. I'm still looking for the yellow eye version. Some of the old VP kaiju being released with new colors is intriguing...
Just an older Marmit release - no OG. There's a white eyed version and a yellow eyed version. Hasn't been a new one in a long time.
actually that one is a vintage from Mark Nagata's collection, no? the Vinyl Paradise one was the same color. I remember looking at the credits in the back of the book and I think Mark's was vintage...otherwise the credits are wrong.
To my knowledge, Marmit's was the first version in 1997 when they released it as Vinyl Paradise VP-38. I have the yellow eye on green vinyl. However Club Tokyo indicates there is a blue vinyl version. Can someone confirm if blue is the the base vinyl color for the white eye?
My memory is that several of the credits in the So Crazy Japanese Toys are wrong. New figures were wrongly identified as vintage, etc. My knowledge of vintage toys is not nearly complete as some of the true experts on this board but I've never seen a toy version of this character in any of the Japanese reference materials like Yuji's book so I'm pretty sure Marmit was the first to release it. I don't have the white eyed version in front of me but I think the base vinyl is dark green just like the figure. FWIW, the quality and paint on the old VP series is not that good - hopefully Marmit will step it up on this new release.
I like the Marmit white eyed one, probably cause I've had it for so long. The reissue almost reminds me of Kozik where he would have someone do the sculpt and then have it painted with random colours.
