I don't know if this has been posted, but... It's up at S7. http://super7store.com/store/detail.php?item_id=11826
If an Obake sheet is translucent then rightly or wrongly I want to see the figure inside or at least a decent portion of the face. The mouth placement obscures almost all of the inner figure's face on every release of the new sculpt so far. I only have the NYC Candy Corn 2d Gear Obake and thats likely the last of this Obake I'm buying, the mouth just messes it up imho.
this is the best so far of the new sheet obake releases... but i agree that the mouth kind of ruins it.
rubbish ! whats the point of that? cant see the face. waste of time. no wonder base prices have fell to an all time low. jesus. yes, I woke up in a bad mood !
Sadly I have to agree - I like the clear sheet, but painting in the mouth just obliterates the face - whcih should be the point of a clear sheet - you see the face. An experiment gone wrong
for me, that red paint is part of the appeal--the red splat gives it a little mystery although you already know whats behind..it creates character. i like it. or i guess im just biased with this black, red, transparent, white combination.
I don't think by much... Thehalloween ones that are clear at the top of the head, you can tell the mouth paint covers the face, one of my big dislikes ab it actually. I didn't relise how serious an issue that would be from the original pictures. I thought this was gonna look pretty damn cool, but I'm disapointed especially cuz the mouth was one of the things I really liked, it makes it look more evil. But apperantly at the cost of losing the better evil part : /
I agree, the old Obake had a subtle elegance to its face and when transparent it let the figure inside enhance the sheet. Neither overwhelmed the other. When not transparent the old Obake had a certain charm to it as well, I like both transparent and solid old Obake and have many of the initial sculpt. This sculpt doesn't work for me either solid or transparent. Initially I thought I'd like it too.
With the new one they should only paint it one of 2 ways...either make the head painted to hide the figure's face underneath or not paint the mouth if you go clear or translucent. Although it might be kinda cool to have the head painted and not the mouth so you can kinda see the figure's head...ala bagman-ish. It just isn't that well thought out.
Everything should be painted EXCEPT the mouth, and it can be peeking out sort of. I am going to have to say its not even worth trying to figure out, bust out the old molds or a new ghost, it would probably win everybody over a lot faster. What is one paint way that would really make anyone like this? That candy corn job on the old ghost would have rocked, same with that painted glow.
I'd like to see it executed, initially I thought the mouth on some would just be cut out and you could see both eyes in there, like the angry ghost took vengeance out and possesed a body as opposed to the original that looked like a ghost that hadn't realized it was a ghost and wandering around thinking it still had a body. So the first one was the somber one that thought he was still the body he had inside and the second was the vengeance one that realized its existence and was angry about it and took back a body. At least thats how my imagination works, its amazing what a few aquadots can do. Kidding kidding I don't want roger flipping out on me again.
I kinda wish they left the mouth transparent on this one too. I like this actual sculpt, but the versions so far are a little lacking in the 'wow' dept.
