Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 310509 Hey guys n gals. I thought I'd post some more pictures of the packing design. In this case you are looking at a part of the backside of the box art of Jilian West. If you want to see more just follow the link in my signature to my flickr account. All the panels of the packaging will be revealed in this month. Two panels per day. A bit like a serialized story.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 310509 And since we're on the topic of Jilian West... I couldn't stop myself from posting this blurry teaser. Har.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 310509 Here is another little teaser. This time without blur but instead without a complete toy. More pics are going to come this week.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 160609 Here is a first look at Taro Kern assembled from blank cast body parts. Cheers.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 160609 How many of each character are you making?
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 160609 I don't know quite yet. The first run will be probably somewhere around 5 of each.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 It's official. I invite everyone to join me for the presentation and graduation of my humble self on Monday, July 13th at 11:00 am in the Documenta Exhibition Building.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure you have a brilliant career ahead of you. Now I hope to see some finished figures in my collection very soon. Best wishes, BC
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Thanks a lot Bob for your kind words. I know nothing about the brilliance of my future but it looks like it's going to be very busy (which is a good thing for me) ^_^ Now for some more teasing pictures from the paint department (I might add even more later on)... I underestimated the time it takes to paint these figures. There are so many parts to mask and paint and un-mask, mask an repaint, etc. The cheap Revell airbrush is unfortunately a compromise I had to make yesterday as all other alternatives failed. I still have to find a shop in this town to carry decent airbrushing equipment. I've read good words about Iwata's products though. I guess I will order one as soon as I can afford it. Well, here is the picture as promised.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 sweet. congratulations Daniel. really looking forward to the painted versions of your creations.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Cool,it looks great, congrats to you!! Really impatient to see final result! ....online one day?
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Very interested in seeing finished pieces!!! These look so very promising. Congrats on graduation.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 I cannot wait to see these guys finished. So psyched!! You're using automotive paint right? How's that working out?
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Thanks everyone. I feel honored receiving all this positive feedback. Sean, you're right. The basic colors are really not much of challenge with their fine pigmentation. Some of the effects paints are a bit more difficult to handle since the metallic flakes are a little too big. It works though. I just have to clean the needle a bit more. As I said earlier I am already thinking about investing in a better set-up. All in all I am still a newbie with this method of painting. Yesterday was basically the first time in my life I used an airbrush! So much actually that I destroyed a friend's airbrush because the solvents (nitro) I used were too agressive. Now I'm trying to go a little easier on the new gun using turpentine so that maybe I can give it to him instead of his old one. Really, this whole project has been very fascinating for me as i have learned many new things starting in sculpting all the way to packaging design and airbrush painting.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 I would definitely look into getting an Iwata, especially with the solvents you're using. They're made to withstand that abuse. Anything with rubber or plastic in it is going to get destroyed pretty quickly. Looking good though. I meant to ask, is the head on that guy solid resin? He must feel awesome in hand.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Yes, the head is solid. He really feels massive and yet he's still not the heaviest of the bunch... I am going to order that Iwata right away. I'd rather be on the safe side than having the current pistol fail me midway in the next paint marathon (last one was 11 hours straight!).
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 190609 Two Karl Diesel torsos do the sumo. Another sneak peek into the painting process this time with some of the automotive effects paint I am using. Wonderful stuff.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 050709 cool effects. cant wait to see more. do you have a price figured up yet for the whole squad?
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 050709 Thanks, jcrazy. I'm close to finishing the first edition and I will post pictures in the next few days when they're done. I'm still debating what the value of these should be. If anyone is in for a whole set I'll make it a bit less than the amount of just simply adding four together.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 050709 Finally. Yesterday was the opening the graduate exhibition and I've managed to get everything done in time. The figures range from 15 cm (Taro Kern) to 27 cm (Brent Sparr) and are painted with automotive effect paint. The first release edition is limited to two of each kind. Every toy is customized as well so even though it's an edition they are still unique. Info on purchasing options and availability will come later.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 090709 BREATHTAKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 090709 They look amazing. Congrats on getting them wrapped up in time for graduation.
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 090709 Daniel, these are just incredible. The paint is fantastic. Whoever gets these is incredibly lucky!
Re: netzwerk - new line of resin cast toys - updated 090709 2nd! Those are my favorite too. Awesome job on all!
