So after going through all my stuff that was stored away, I started getting obsessed with my Bandai ultra kaiju again. These were some of the first vinyl sofubi, I collected, since I could buy them on a starving artist budget. (around $5-10 each back in the late 80's.) I got a complete run, then started looking for color and sculpt variations. I amassed several hundred of the damn things before finally giving up. They eventually ended up in boxes because I just ran out of display room. This is not everything, just the older stuff. I'm pulling all the interesting ones to shoot photos. There's probably another couple hundred packed back up. The early versions are great, with crazy color sprays and sculpts only a little less crude than the Popy standard size kaiju. You can see some of the different versions here. There's more stuff in the tubs underneath, mostly Marmits and Godzilla/Gamera stuff.
I had a feeling you'd have a picture already when I asked the question!! Looking forward to this ultra kaiju catalog thread evolving...
Thanks! I agree, the modern sculpt of Neronga is fantastic, and it can double as a Baragon when you pit him against the newer Godzilla vinyls.
Alright children, lessons over, now go out and play. What's amazing is that every shot from COOP is good for print. Super duper, Mr. Cooper! The second to last Neronga is one of the best colors for any kaiju from the Bandai line.
I love the old Gomorah's...the black ones...all that Bandai stuff is pretty sweet. I have a bunch too, from the same era.
A few more... A nice first version Keylla. a lot of these early ones are noticeably larger, not sure why. A good first version Namegon: Windom: First version Twin Tail. I think that this one might be double marked Popy/Bandai.
That second Aboras is a beauty! Love the Twin Tail too. Imagine finding all of this awesomeness at a random yard sale!
