It's part of a gashapon set made by Marusan, it was all Go Nagai, Getter 1,2 Devilman, Mazinger.

I got excited for nothing. These pics:

    Are from this kaiju book:

But I did order one this morning :)

That said Marusan does need to reissue the Giant Ragon & Giant Bakula (in the original colors also)

^ Jeez I love that Gojira & tower set!
Is it made in Japan or China? I know the giant original style Marusan Gojira was made in China so wonder if this big one is as well.

Huh...y'know, I never thought of that, but given the matte finish of the giant OG's, it totally makes sense. The main reason one would produce vinyl toys in China is because they generally use low-cost/high-output rotocasting machines. That form of manufacture leads to porous surface texture (on a microscopic level). Think Glyos Armodoc or Rig. Unless you gloss-coat rotocast vinyl, it'll never have the glass-like finish of slush-cast vinyl.

...Which is why I'm pretty damn confident this new one is Japanese (slush-cast). You can't fake the funk--that's one gloriously glossy beast!

    Thanks for the info Sanjeev!
If that's the case, this ready for fisticuffs Gojira really is badass!
Especially with that Bullmark OG color homage.

Yeah I saw that Godzilla set as well and it's so damn beautiful.
For me those colors are spot on.
When you can get toys like this I forget everything about all the lotteries that I enter and lose.

That's a wonderful set! Agree that this colours are spot on. Especially the blue details. The jaw seems to be able to move, I know that'd be odd but it looks like it does.

I just received this pink Ultra Ace and I would like to have information on this toy, it is a pachi reprint like the giant gorilla ? There is a serial number on the header, is it a limited edition ? And does anyone have a picture of the original ? Thanks

No, I think all of the reissue figures have stamped numbers on the header.

There were two exclusive versions of Ultra Ace in the reissues: a silver painted version that was exclusive to this U.S. store called Day Old Antiques; and a rare clear version that appears to have been a prize for some sort of survey.

I don't have a photo of the original Ultra Ace. It is similar to the red reissued version. Not sure if there were other colors.

Thanks for the info @akum6n, I asked for the serial number because I have the 2 versions of the King Caesar designed by Amapro and distributed by Marusan and they got serial number to (100 piece limited for each). So I guess there is a set amount limited for each piece (even if by definition most of the sofubi releases are limited edition).

Yeah, I think the Amapro collaborations were a different deal than the reissues of the Marusan originals. I'm sure the Marusan originals reissues were limited in some way, but my sense was always that they made a LOT of them.

I'm looking a little more closely at the header for your Ultra Ace and this what appears to be printed on the right side:

    Date of sale: 97-10-31
    Quantity limitation:
    Product name: 500272

The gorillas are the Goro sculpt correct? I got a brown silver one, marusan 450, on the way here, it's a recent reissue i think but the sculpt is different than the vintage. I think the vintage goro face is way better tho. Those blue ones are so sweet.

Are 350 and 450 monikers for marusan just different sets or is it size?

The gorilla is the giant gorilla from One Million Years B.C.
Just wanted to add that the 450 is a resculpt.

@Fedhai - I like the colors on that Ultra Ace!

@decypher - Beware the ape addiction! ;) The 350/450 monikers are a historical reference to the price in yen for either a standard size (350) or giant-size (450) vinyl toy. For the current reissues, they indicate whether the figure is standard size (~9"/22cm) or giant size (~12.5"/29cm), and could vary slightly between characters. Here is a dedicated thread for reference:

@deafmetal Bravo sir, I'm thoroughly impressed. I've had my eye on the 350 or 450 but I'm waiting for a better price.

Nothing really rare but this is probably my FIRST venture into something semi vintage related with the re-issue Medicom Marusan Godzilla from the Vinyl Wars series. I really love this guy. Every collector needs at LEAST 1 Godzilla in there lifetime than maybe multiple types afterwards..... lol.

But yeah i went to my local comic book store and he had a bunch of this type and a few others. Apparently some were more expensive because of better header card art? Idk i just bought the one with a damaged header card since i was opening it up anyways lol. But I was happy to find him locally none the less!

@Headhunter - Nice '68 SoshingekiGoji! I dig the green/blue/silver colors on that version -- very classic colors for the big guy. Congrats on picking up your first Godzilla sofubi as well.

Thanks! Iv wanted more Godzilla since i was a kid but it never seemed to be around in stores to purchase growing up.

It surprises me that Ultraman did not get as much exposure in the USA as Godzilla has over the years. Especially in TV and movies.
