It’s times like this that I miss Club Tokyo.... Does any offhand have a list of the various releases of the standard M1 JJ figure? off the top of my head I can think of: Blank flesh S7 version “Regular” JJ colors on a lavender vinyl “Regular” colors on light blue vinyl “Regular” colors on silver flake vinyl Were there any other official releases? I’m rediscovering my fondness for this toy, and I’m kinda surprised there aren’t more versions. I’m really surprised that there is no glow in the dark version afaik.
There appears to be another “regular” variant (freehand paint application) on beige vinyl that came from a lucky bag.
Records seem scarce so it could be a custom. I’ve only come across a couple of listings, both describing it as a lucky bag edition. The photos here make it look official: https://www.icollector.com/JET-JAGUAR-M1-Vinyl-Figure-Beige-Painted-Lucky-Bag-6-version_i33881095
My recollection is that the painted beige version is from a lucky bag, maybe 2006-ish? There were painted and unpainted versions of each sculpt. EDIT: I'm wrong, it was way back in 2000. Check this photo of the LB, which has info in the description: M1-Go Wonderfest Lucky Bag 6 (2000) This Lucky Bag was the sixth one with full size figures that M1 released. The figures are all unpainted, and roughly 9 inches in size: Matango (Yellow) MechaGodzilla 2 (Black) Manda (Glow) Godzilla 1974 (Beige) Jet Jaguar (Beige) The Godzilla 74 and Jet Jaguar were new at the time to the M1 line of figures. The Jet Jaguar is modeled after a theoretical standard sized Bullmark figure. With the purchase of the bag at Wonderfest you were given the chance to draw for a special figure. A painted version of each LB 6 figure was sold at the grand opening of Nagoya Mandarake. M1-Go Wonderfest Lucky Bag 6 (2000) by Richard Cox, on Flickr
Did someone call? There have actually been 17 official M1-GO standard-sized Jet Jaguar releases in the past twenty years: 2000 - Flesh - Blank Lucky Bag release 200x - Flesh - Blank - Resculpt Fixed a weird torsion in the torso Not sure when it was actually released, but mentioning it here with the standard flesh blank Have only seen one flesh with tweaked sculpt 2000 - Flesh - Painted - Loose Sprays Hand-painted by Yuji 100 made, Lucky Bag comes with numbered bag ticket (xx/100) 200x - GID Not sure on release date but was definitely before 2008 200x - Yellow - Painted - Masked Lucky Bag release 200x - Yellow - Blank Lucky Bag release 2008 - Clear - Painted - Masked Super7 Release (USA) 2008 - Clear - Painted - Masked Inazuma Release (Japan) Very similar to the S7 release Slightly different silver sprays on the arms 2008 - Blue - Painted - Masked Bullmark Classic Colors 2010 - Clear - Unpainted Lottery fig at Winter WonderFest 2010 - Pearl Translucent - Unpainted Lottery fig at Winter WonderFest 2010 - Rose Translucent - Unpainted Lottery fig at Winter WonderFest 2010 - Gold Translucent - Unpainted Lottery fig at Winter WonderFest 2010 - Gray - Blank 2013 - Gray - Painted - Masked Bullmark Classic Colors 2015 - Purple - Painted - Masked Bullmark Class Colors ‘Godzilla Vinyl Wars’ release with Medicom 2019 - Dark Gray w/Metallic Flake - Painted - Masked Bullmark Classic Colors There have been a couple of other samples/customs from M1 proper, but they weren't official releases. The GID version pops up every once in a while; it seems to be pretty common.
Damn. That’s a lot of Jet Jaguars. And yet still not that many painted versions. Gonna have to see the variation in the two clear painted versions. And I’ll have to track a gid down! thanks!
I feel the same. It’s the only version I have at the moment. I’m waiting on a S7 version in the mail and I’m excited. I do wish we would see some more production paint versions with some wild colors. Every other GodIlla character gets that treatment. Why not Jet Jag?
It is interesting that JJ received the giant size treatment from Bullmark back in the day, but no standard size figure or any export/Hawaiian variants. I don't believe there is even a paint variant for the smaller mid-size toy. I would like to see Yuji's take on a Hawaiian spray Jet Jaguar.
I definitely need the middle size Bullmark. I’ve seen a GID reprint that looks really cool but came with a giant egg set with other figures and is probably hard to find.
Exactly. JJ has always been my favorite Toho character, and the studio treats him like an unwanted stepchild. I think I'm up to 35 customs at this point...
That's wild; I always thought the Inazuma-Go release was just the Japan sales of the Super7 version. Thanks for the knowledge!
