Did a quick search but didnt see any info on this place, so sorry if its already been posted. Its some bar in Japan which is Toy themed. Toy collections on display and tsuburaya movies and such playing. Maybe someone can translate more of it. http://potos.co.jp/gourumet/bar/post_341.php
no idea....link was sent to me with little info. no Gaijin... pshhh.. Im too good for their toys anyways.
Looks cool, but its in Nagoya. I guess if you were planning on passing through there anyway, it'd be a great place to stop off at! Can't imagine them not allowing foreigners, usually the only places that don't allow foreigners are pretty shady (if not outright shady) to begin with.
There's a very cool hole-in-the-wall place in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, called Bar Plastic Model: http://www.plastic-model.net/ It doesn't seat more than a half-dozen people but you can play with Soul of Chogokin, Gundam, and sentai toys on the bar. I don't know how often gaijin visit but the owner got a kick out of playing his collection of anime/tokusatsu 78s for us and seeing us identify the songs.
i hope they allow this filthy tattooed gaijin there I'll try and check it out next month any other crazy places to go??..someone hit me up..I would love to see some metal shows while there also I'm down for some crazy octopus blowfish turtle guts type restaurant
If you want some crazy eats try and score some funazushi. Its from the shiga prefect but you might be able to pick up else where. Ive had it twice now, totally love it. Though that nucklehead andrew zimmer on Bizare foods hated it. He obviously has no taste.
Think I'm mistaken there. I thought I remembered a discussion about this elsewhere, but I am probably mixing it up with something else in my ripe old age...
Bar Gojira-ya in Koenji is definitely worth hitting up... http://www1.plala.or.jp/GODZILLAYA/godzillaya2new.htm
man, I'd totally open one of those here in NYC...if I didn't know that the monthly rent would start at $20K. I would wonder how I'd generate that much revenue per month to cover rent + expenses unless I open up a nerd massage parlor in the back.
Do you know where Boy Records is? (its easily the best HC record shop in Tokyo so you better!) Gojira-ya is right down the street on the right, under the JR train tracks.
It would be great to open up something like this in the states, though I'd doubt anyone would get it. Also any collector would be on pins an needles supplying the bar with their own collection. That is unless you called the bar "Case" and everything in it was sealed up tight. That might be kind of cool, but on the other hand take away from the fun factor. I think no one outside kaiju collectors and that auction house know the value of some of these "toys".
