So, they were close by last night. My girlfriend turned to me last night and told me that Maiden were playing in Louisville and I told her there was no way Maiden would be playing here and I hadn't heard ANYTHING about it. Plus, if Maiden were playing here I would have been there and not at home talking about it. The last few times I have seen Maiden they have delivered every time!!! Dammit, now I need to hear some... Hope the show rocked!
Maiden ruled, but that is an obvious statement. I was pissed that the Chicago exclusive shirt was sold out before I even got there.
They played all classics, as far as a set list, I can't remember them all, but I know it included Number of the Beast Fear of the Dark Hallowed Be Thy Name The Trooper Powerslave Iron Maiden Wasted Years Run To The Hills Aces High Two Minutes To Midnight Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner ummmm, help me out people lol! I wasn't even aware they had Chicago exclusive shirts? I saw the $45 price tags and though 'fuck that' and went and spent $7 on a cup of Budweiser. Worth the money to see them, but I hate the fact the assrape you on food drink and merch at these big shows.
This is pretty much the setlist from what I remember. Not 100% sure of the song order, but you can get the idea. Aces High Two Minutes to Midnight Revelations Trooper Wasted Years Number of the Beast Can I Play with Madness Rime of the Ancient Mariner Powerslave Heaven Can Wait Fear of the Dark Run to the Hills Iron Maiden Moonchild Clarivoyant Hallowed Be Thy Name Yeah, Maiden usually has special shirts made for shows at bigger cities. This new Chicago shirt had Eddie dressed like a Capone-type mobster. The back of the shirt had bullet holes and said something like "I survived the June 11th Chicago Massacre". Yes...it is cheesy, but I still want one!
The only thing that really sucked was that Lauren Harris was on the bill again (for the Irvine Meadows show).
I missed her both times I saw Maiden this year (LA in February and in Chicago)... both times I was standing in line for merch and beer
You were lucky, it was bloody awful! Easy on the eyes though, but singing, ugh! I didn't see those Chicago only shirts, now i'm on a quest!
Good luck...there are a bunch of those shirts on ebay and they are going for around $150-$200! Fuckin' flippers!
I kind of regret not picking that shirt up. It was a nice one. I still scoff at concert shirts over $20! I'm starting to feel like a cantankerous old guy...
Damn. How did I miss this? Maiden was my first real rock show....March 6, 1987 at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium. It was....AWESOME.
