Only a year after I move from MO back to CA. Glad Roto keeps the middle of the US stocked with good stuff though.
So who's coming in from out of town? I assume Jason and maybe Kirkland, anyone else? Wanna get cold with us!?!
It is with a heavy heart that I'm here to report a high likelihood that a good portion of the Gargamel exhibi may not be viewable during this Friday's opening reception. In addition, there is a very good chance we will not have the show exclusives on hand either. Three of four boxes shipped from Japan for the exhibit have been held up in customs and are going to require a more lengthy "formal" clearance. In our experience that means we won't be getting the packages until sometime next week, at the earliest. We are working with our customs broker to try to speed up the process, but I won't be holding my breath. The GOOD news is that one box of exhibit pieces did make it through, and Kiyoka and Koji are also bringing part of the exhibit pieces with them on the plane. We've also got pieces by Le Merde, Scrappers and David Horvath and should have additional work from Bwana Spoons and Brian Flynn before Friday. We will still be having an opening reception, Friday evening, 7-10PM, and all exhibit pieces that have arrived will be available for purchase. We will also be selling what is now a *pre-order* for show exclusives which will be delivered as soon as we receive them. Sorry for the bad news, and keep your fingers crossed....there's still a possibility that the remaining boxes might be released from customs in time for Friday's opening.
oh... my heart... ... no worries, we're a resilient bunch, yeah? gonna be a kick-ass show even if the custom pieces got held up in... wait for it... customs.
Whitney just got off the phone with our broker...it's still *possible* that we may be able to retrieve the boxes on Friday. Keep them fingers and toes crossed!
Good luck man! With all the work that everyone's put in it would suck to have a 'no show' show. . . UK customs seem to be getting keener too. Don't they know it's nearly Christmas!
good luck, kirby. they've been extra tough in recent months but i have no doubt you can negotiate a miracle. wish i could be there; it's poised to be an incredible show with an incredible toy crew turnout in any form.
too bad Katope is not scheduled to be at the show we could all just bring in our own blanks and markers and bam more customs
I'm not letting this sour me up. 1- We'll still be able to preorder something if we don't want what's in store already 2- Meeting the Gargamel dudes is going to be awesome 3- Some stuff will be there and I'm crossing all crossable stuff that the rest will make it anyway. Should be fun no matter what (except the cold, that will suck.)
You're right! Hope to see you in line! As for the out of towners we are in single digits here in Chicago so bring your long johns!
^^ aw, c'mon... it's not that cold. we're going to have a practical heat wave on friday... high of 36ºF! and light snow tomorrow, so we'll can hide the nasty crap that's still left from last weekend.
True, a high of 36ºF, but probably a -20ºF windchill Looking forward to the show and hanging out with everyone. -Minh
Oh no! I really hope that everything will turn out well, and that a nice Christmas miracle will happen and customs will release those packages and all of the pieces will be there this Friday! Either way, I'll also be there bright and early wearing many layers of clothes (possibly even my snowboarding pants for extra warmth )! Hope to see everyone there! And I'll have my fingers crossed for those packages to arrive on time
maybe if we are lucky customs will find a box full of drugs and celebrate the bust and uhh uhh um what was it we were suppose to be doing with these boxes? oh yeah just put them all down that magic chute
The packages have cleared customs. We're not 100% out of the woods as there's still the matter of getting the boxes delivered and/or picked up, but it's looking more and more likely that we'll have the full exhibit and exclusives available by tomorrow evening's opening.
