in addition to spending way more money than I should be on toys, my other main addiction would be horror movies. I'm always on the hunt for some rare foreign film that's hard to find or some incredibly overpriced japanese dvd box special edition, especially tokusatsu and sentai tv, usually unsubbed. anyone here as nuts as me when it comes to this stuff?

I acutally haven't seen it. it's takashii miike's tv mini-series. I guess it's released here now, but I want the british dvds. it's on the list of things to pick up, let's put it that way.

the next thing I think I'm going to buy is that kamen rider v3 dvd-box. I've been waiting on that thing forever.

It goes without saying that his work entitled "Audition" was also quite nice.

Do you know if the British release of MPD isn't all fuzzed out with the mosaic? I still need to see episodes 4-6 (apparently released domestically as 2 & 3 of the DVD trio.

you mean over genitals or sex scenes? I haven't seen any of them yet, so I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but often in Japanese films that stuff is optically fogged. if that's the case, it's probably on the original prints and I'm sure the british dvds would be fogged also. I can double check some resources to find out for sure though.

I keep putting off renting MPD Psycho because my girlfriend hates shit like that, but it looks pretty cool.

I was more into collecting Horror movies and stuff before I got into toys, the vinyl has pretty much dominated my life for the last year. I also got over 100 DVDs robbed a little while ago and they were mostly all weird horror movies, so that really sucked.

But I still have over 100 movies on my computer and hard drive, and my insurance claim is going to get me some really good stuff.

What is Tokusatsu and sentai tv?

Whenever they show anything graphically gory (like the human flowerpots, etc.) they employ the optical mosaic effect so that you can't see the brains, or anything in that vicinity...

hmm, I'll have to look into that. I do believe it was shown on tv in japan, so maybe that has something to do with the reduced gore.

If your looking for a great horror toku crossover check out Garo. It's currently airing in Japan now. I'm really loving this show. Gonna watch episode 9 sometime tonight.

ichi is probably his most popular work, after Audition. I don't really see how anyone couldn't love that, with how over the top it is.

some of my favorite things he's done have been his stranger projects - Visitor Q, Happiness of the Katakuris, Gozu, etc.
