Major earthquake in Japan, 7.3 in the Kyushu region. A lot of injuries, some deaths, tsunami alert, and major damage to structures. I know we have some SB'ers in JP, hope you are ok, and remembering you all in my prayers. Sorry to be a "Mom", but do check in, if you can. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-36059487 http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/14/asia/japan-earthquake/
Fine here thanks! I'm up on the main island near(ish) Tokyo and didn't feel any tremors at all. I just hope there won't be any major aftershocks.
heard from Gargamel after first quakes, and they are ok, I think they are still alright after last big aftershock.
What's crazy is how the aftershocks are still continuing. Being on the west coast, we get the English version of NHK over the airwaves. They had a map of Kyushu that showed how the tremors were moving along a fault lime that essentially bisects the island. And during all of this, a volcano is acting up. Hope all settles down soon.
Indeed, the aftershocks themselves are more powerful than what most people even get to experience as 'earthquakes' in other active areas. This is always an incredibly tough thing to deal with, and makes one reflect on how little power we have against events such as these. Japan has an incredible systems of preparedness and mitigation, and still suffers greatly. I feel sad for those lost and the damage resulting; only hope that this is now over and offer my support to all those affected in Japan.
I meant well just sounded to straight forward emotionless guess. And poking fun at the title i guess didn't help. Its what i get for being to blunt. Sorry about that.
Oh im far from that. Now if you want haters there are ppl up north that are so half ass backwards it will make your view of hater look extremely tame.
Being around my grandpa for so long you get used to it. He would use it in a none racial way though since he was a nurse tending to prisoners of war and his soldiers alike without prejudice.
I definitely don't think that any of what he said was good, nor do I think his arguments for why he said it are either but let's not turn this into another argument thread. It'll only detract from the entire point of the thread. Anyway, my thoughts to Japan and hope that things turn for the better very soon. Is anyone aware of the more proper donation services that might come up?
http://www.aarjapan.gr.jp/english/support/ Still, I suppose other places need our help more than Japan ... What the fuck are you meaning here son ?
http://www.aarjapan.gr.jp/english/support/ Still, I suppose other places need our help more than Japan ... True , just getting it out there for all the people who are able and inclined.
I am just reading reports of yet another large earthquake in Japan, this one centred just south of Sendai. Thankfully no serious damages or injuries as yet, as I believe it was localised quite deep, but this has been a very unfortunate week for tectonic activity.
At last check I don't think anyone on here was in the Osaka area, but nevertheless, hope all friends and loved ones are okay. The area and residents are in my thoughts, as it resonates for me a particularly personal level. Magnitude 6.1 quake struck city of Osaka
Just reading that there was another major quake - 7.3 - off the coast of northern Honshu at 23:36 (14:36 GMT) (and near once more to Fukushima). Earthquake: Japan hit by shock cutting power to millions My sincere best wishes to all in Japan, family and friends. This is always a tough thing and worrying time. Safe thoughts to everyone. The M1GO crew normally work on a "vampire schedule" so I was worried about them being in the office at the time the quake occurred. Thankfully they are all ok. That building has been damaged twice: once during the major one in 2011, and again during the quake that hit the region last year. Makes me nervous but they seem comfortable with it.
