For me, that means using different tools and techniques to get the job done and they can be different every time. I try to consider the different features, textures, details, base vinyl color, and overall character of the toy and then try to paint it in a way that brings out the elements that I like. When I paint a toy, I'm not trying to show off my "style," I'm trying to show off the toy. I want the paint app to emphasize what's in the sculpt, not overpower it. I understand that this approach might make my "work" seem inconsistent from an artistic/stylistic standpoint but that doesn't really bother me. I paint these toys because I enjoy it. Everybody likes what they like. I like to paint little monsters. Nope. All V-COLOR. I know some folks are getting some nice results with MK but I'm gonna stick with V for as long as I can. I was trying to run with a palette that would be somewhat "realistic" while still being mindful that the end result needed to be a fun toy. Sculpted the barnacles with super sculpy to play to the character and break up the overall smoothness of the sculpt.. Hope you guys like it.
