who are some of the usual people that will not be attending this year? only ones i can think of is realxhead
Not attending: Pushead, Mutant Vinyl Hardcore (and whoever else was previously mentioned in this thread). And Paul Kaiju announced this will be his last Dcon.
Mvh i think has only ever gone to two dcons and pushead is never on the exhibitors list. He usually shows up at sour lemon booth who will be there
After 10 years of this hobby, I've never once made it to any con. I *might* be able to make it out for one day. Would it make more sense for me to just come for preview night, or will there still be some gems left for a more leisurely full day on Saturday? I'll be mostly interested in Bwana/Gargamel/Grody Shogun.
If yer only going for one day, I wouldn’t recommend making it preview night! You will miss out on a lot. In your case specifically, I think Gargamel only does a small release on preview night.
^^ That's good to hear! I want to get in a full day, just reading some of the comments above, it makes it sound like everything sells out on the preview night, and its a ghost town the other two days. But maybe that's just for the super hype items...
It's the hyped stuff for sure, and Friday night is crazy. Saturday would be a lot better to hang out and get some stress free toy buying in. A lot of toymakers save releases for Saturday, have specific drop times, or lotteries. The first hour or 2 of Saturday can be just as much chaos.
There's a large amount of unsold booths, but at least they seem to be in one area instead of scattered around. I'm glad that I'll be next to the same crew as last year (Sunguts, Blobpus, and MaxToy) but was also pleasantly surprised to see that I'm going to be right across from Aidan Monahan and LiveRad Studios, as well as a couple tables away from Vincent Scala. The Friday is annoying. I'm used to tattoo conventions where the short day is something like 5pm-8pm. Staying until 10 wouldn't be too bad but opening at 9am the next day makes it suck. I'm wondering how it's going to go this year. Last year definitely had growing pains due to the new location. I'm hoping that things have been smoothed out.
I was thinking, for your situation, I’d piss off for most of the day and show up later? If it’s your own booth and aren’t worried about losing some sales to lookie loos, it would take some stress off. I’d totally do that if it were my own booth.
Oh I know, at the same time I have anxiety to leaving the booth right at the beginning of the show. Nonetheless I'll be wandering around now and then as the booth neighbors and I help each other out with watching each other's backs while we need head out.
Any vegans should check out Vegan Pizza, bout a 10 min drive from the con. I’m not vegan but I’ll eat that all day. They also have pies and cookies. The literal name is Vegan Pizza, there’s some vegan Thai place right next to it.
Please continue the derail and turn this into a food recommendation thread. Might need to check out Vegan Pizza.
I got a splinter near the convention center once. It was pretty close by one of the entrances, but not the exits
Roscoe's sucks. Unbelievably overrated and expensive. I've never had dryer fried chicken in my life. However, I did thoroughly enjoy the film Tapeheads
the best coffee place in the la/oc area is coffee code, bout 5 minutes from the venue. I urge all of you to get it
7leaves is good but I usually get tea there. as far as small coffee shops go, coffee code has my favorite latte
I'll be vending again this year, my booth is BxE Buttons X StaciaMade. I will have our usual enamel pins, patches, etc. I will have some of my Bearrito vinyl toys and hopefully a prototype of my next toy.
