I'll be there! Both days. I'd offer you a place to stay but I don't have it. If you (or anyone else) can't find a place I might be able to help get discount rates at a Westin..just PM me and I'll see what I can do.
your a big bear. face towards a corner of a building and you'll be good... if its still 80's in late october. you should be good in early november im headed out again... damn cant even remember what number year this is.... catch some deadbeat, and micro mummy boy blinds at spankys booth.
leili - That sounds awesome. I'll pm you if my squatter tactics fail. eckotyper - Exactly, I keep a fan running into december. Plus I need a room to hide my shame as I inhale as many burritos as possible over two days haha.
I went to the first one in December 2006, it was held in a meeting room (Room 211). I've always heard how Comic Con started out in a hotel meeting room and decades later it grew in popularity to the size it is today. Maybe 30 years from now when D*Con has grown to the size of SDCC I can mutter to my grandkids "I remember back when the first D*Con was called Vinyl Toy Network"
This is my fifth year as an exhibitor so must be my 6th year in attendance. I remember before it was DCon and before the ice rink. Suffice to say I'll be there.
I liked it last year. But now having it as a two day event killed it for me. The additional travel expenses, vacation, etc made it a pass for me. I wish they would do it the early new year or spring. As there are 3 US events in a row in July, oct, nov and then nothing for 6 months.
As a non-NYC or CA person, I wish there were something as amazing as those 3 events somewhere else in the country. ATL is pretty central for the southeast, but Dragon Con doesn't really ever have anything that SB fans are looking for.
As a Brit . . . STFU! Most of you are only a maximum of 6 hours or so away from any event, anywhere in the US . . . buncha fuckin' lightweights!
If my car wasn't a turd I would be going to Dcon, bummed that I can't! I hear its nothing but good times though.
Haha I wish it was only 6 hours! 6 hours wouldn't even get me to Atlanta, let alone NYC. 17 hours to NYC and 35 hours to LA! Unless you're talking flying, then yes, 6 hours. Guess it's actually my wallet that's a lightweight - It can't stand the airfare!
must say i love that sdcc is quick and easy, its only 6 hour drive, and i wont even drive to it lol. NYCC, 6 hour flight wasnt bad, on the way there i slept the whole way, wasnt digging it on the way home cause couldnt sleep. how greg mishka does that back and forth soo often, I dont get it lol. you can find airfare at about $350 round trip... or less, just have to shop...
Me, arbito, and le merde will be there sharing a table. I know koji harmon has a booth, and pretty sure PK is going. Gonna be a fun Designer Con this year... plus the jarjar show. Bonus points.
PK & MVH 2 days worth of exploding peoples heads @ booth 322. I'll bring a snow shovel, plastic bags, and some bleach.
6 hours was the shortest flight out of BWI. Most range from 7-8 hrs, depending on the layover. I opted for a non-stop flight (thank God for SNUS)... Looking forward to my first Dcon & finally placing some faces with the names I've met on this board. Hopefully none of my cranial matter lands on you in the Booth 322 blast radius
Yea i dunno about the whole two day thing. You can see it all in one day id say and it will be a bummer to have to go to both days if releases get spread out... Only time will tell! I mean its great for the industry if it can support a full two days dont get me wrong. I started attending VTN in 08 and i think i only mossed one or two in those early years when it was twice a year before it became Dcon. I also vote it gets pushed to early in the calendar year, as early as Feb or as late as April.
