Re: hardcore hardcore I remember buying The Age of Quarrel when it came out (still have the LP somewhere..) - Oh the deception ! Zzzzzzz Now the want to be Mayhem or what
Re: hardcore hardcore Met him once or twice back in the day, then was his fb friend... he got into a lot of name calling and weirdness on his posts, once even saying he "wasn't afraid to slap a b i c h " so he was deleted after that.
Re: hardcore hardcore Ha ! sounds about right....i've never been to a Cro-mags concert that wasn't a) cancelled and b) the theatre of wild violence. The worse was a show at a church basement in Verdun in 1985 at which the headlining Cro-Mags never showed up that turned into the absolutely most insane brawl i've ever seen. The biggest meanest skinheads in town going at it east end vs west end, beer drinkers vs right wingers, innocent bystanders vs complete psychos.... As a skinny 14 year old I was more or less immune and i remember just climbing onto a high windowsill and watching the chaos from above. No bouncers back then, i stayed up there for hours it seemed....
Re: hardcore hardcore Was never a fan of NYHC (Im from Cali where Hardcore was born)...too much tough guy bullshit.I think NY is still mad that whiney suburban kids from LA minted hardcore and they always had the kind of ham fisted crappier version. (DUCKS)
My insider info is that there is a lot incorrect information(some of which I heard as well) being "reported". His wife left him recently and honestly she should have years ago. Harley has been and always will be a fucking idiot and scumbag. Hope he rots in jail and gets stabbed himself ASAP. The Cro-Mags will continue to be one of the best bands ever. If you disagree, YOU ARE WRONG. that is all.
Re: hardcore hardcore We played DC a lot, that sounds about right. Our biggest gig was one of those "Rock Against Racism" things in front of the Lincoln Monument on the bed of a semi-truck. Couple times at Wilson Center, usually with GI's or Immoral Discipline ..... don't recall ever playing there with the Cro-Mags...
Re: hardcore hardcore Rock Against Reagan/Racisms were a great way to celebrate the Fourth. I think that was at the Hung Jury Pub with Immoral Discipline. Early Cro-Mags used to always play with local bands. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I agree with Abe. The knucklehead posturing was unpleasant at best and too often made things way scarier than they needed to be. But i grew up loving and dancing to the east coast sound and thats' the way things were.
Harley on that night... http://www.nynatives.com/feature/exclusive-harley-flanagan-webster-hall-attack
