Colourblindness strikes again.. looks like the original paint on Hedorah is more of a metallic green compared to the Cheestroyer's turquoise metallic sprays...

Don't worry about it too much, the other day my dad was telling me about a coworker who thought he was buying khaki pants, and walked into work wearing almost-neon green pants... Can't get any more colorblind than that!

Saw that custom earlier on IG, I absolutely love it! Never would have thought it would work, but it does so darn well. Almost makes me wonder what a whole post-apocalyptic set of toy customs would look like... 8)

Re: Cheestroyer - 10 Jan - KTW Super Festival 67

Thanks as always for the kind comments guys :)

Kenth Toy Works has painted up a bunch of the little cheesies for SF67 - the paint app is top notch & he also made some great packaging for these guys as well!

Double Haunt produced a variation of the resin guts Cheestroyer last week as well with a brand new resin skull/spine as a one piece insert instead of the 4 piece arms/chest and skull release for Kickstarter. Here's some pics from his instagram featuring his new header artwork for this version :)

    Re: Cheestroyer - 16 Feb - CheesFink T-Shirt

Been thinking about doing a run of silkscreened t-shirts.. I drew up some text earlier tonight and pasted it over some artwork from last year. Would anybody be interested in these? I will probably do a pre-order soon, over a window of a few days and charge $20 per shirt.

In addition to the stand alone shirt option, I've just added a blue GID blank vinyl + t-shirt pack to the store - http://badteethcomics.bigcartel.com

I'm taking pre-orders until the weekend to make sure everybody gets the shirt size they're after (and so that I'm not stuck with L's and XL's). Thanks to those of you who have picked one up already :)

Great photo and custom job by Videov0mit on instagram!! Love the Terminator 2 style lighting and the resin buildings are perfect for mini size figures.

    Re: Cheestroyer - 5 March - Videov0mit Custom

    Yes he does...
Painted right over a Blobpus Jinx. That kid was on the heavy hunt for a blank Mockbat that l implored him not to paint (if he was ever lucky enough to find one). Suggested he chase after/paint/customize/whatever blank figures that have been released in larger numbers instead. Needless to say that was a waste of time and energy. Also not really sure that Bat he "customized" was an actual blank...

It's unapologetic toy ruiners like this that really makes my skin crawl. One of these guys that slaps his "signature palette" on whatever figure with little-to-no respect to the sculpt itself.

Painting over another's hard work is imo hands-down the most disrespectful action an artist (I'm using that term loosely here) can do. Not just in the toy world either... Beautiful murals and street art ruined by some talentless shit with a spraycan upset me very deeply. People ruining others art to make a name for themselves (or even worse out of hate or jealousy) seems to be more commonplace as each day passes... seems very little is sacred anymore.
Yes, at the end of the day if someone buys a toy it's theirs to do with as they please. That said, I strongly feel any artist who brazenly strips and/or paints over another's hard work should be shunned.

    /end rant

    ^^ SHUNNED!  ;)

I'm guessing that blanks were a little tougher to come by back in the day (maybe some older members can confirm or state otherwise)... however, this discussion is probably better suited for its own thread, so as not to derail BTC's any more.
With blank releases being more commonplace than ever these days, there's really no valid excuse for one artist to paint over another's work. Had the guy had the patience to wait, he could've scored a mixed part Jinx to customize instead of ruining Kaji-San's work.

^^^And yet we all survived. And some of us came away with some pretty cool customs, including Mori-San if memory serves me well. :)

I dont think the thread is derailed since btc brought it up..
Painting of a mixed jinx would be just as bad if not worse to some. Theyre even more limited than the blobpus version right? Covering a blobpus paint job is insane IMO though.

Hey hey hey don't drag me into this mess.. I was just showing off one of his customs of my own figure which I was super stoked on. I think his customs are great and hey even if it's a derail this is the most action my thread has gotten in months so I'm happy

Yeah, by far a lot less of the mixed part Jinxs. Not saying I would've applauded that decision either, but the kid was hell-bent on slapping his "Vomitstyle" on a Jinx, and compared to what he did it would've been the lesser of two evils.

I don't want to continue to derail Glen's thread, or get into the custom debate.

He painted over one of my Mishka Walking Cadavers. I was kind of bummed, I had tried to create unique figures with different hair colors, and then named them all on the bottom of the foot. I was hoping the customization would make people really appreciate them.

Once you buy it, it's yours to do as you please with, but i wish people would use blanks, or toys with high production numbers or damaged paint, and not strip one offs or rare runs.

I really like VideoVomits style! Sending off some old kenner swamp thing stuff to have him paint up soon.

I also love Cheestroyer but I guess I missed this release :/ or was it a one off?

And I also agree painting over other artists unique works is a no-no. Just get a blank to work with, most creators are willing to hook up other artists with their blank versions if the intention is to make a one off custom.

Im wondering about that too.. It is a very odd design, though some people like it. I don't have anything against the guy, (except for the whole stripping other artists toys thing  ) his "#v0mitstyle" is just not for me.

    Re: Cheestroyer - 5 March - Videov0mit Custom

Just a one-off, no release. As far as I know everything John paints is for his own collection. I haven't seen him sell anything off which is cool in my book. One point to make is sometimes certain sculpts are very hard to find and if you're really excited about having a go at painting a certain toy sometimes you gotta grab that one painted version that pops up at an affordable price/trade. I think it would be far worse if he was stripping one-offs and flipping the figures for $$$ but he's just having a fun time painting toys that most of us will never get the chance to.

Maybe more guys should release some cheaper blanka of our favourite sculpts?? Open pre-orders as well ;)
