Burton Leon Reynolds Jr. (February 11, 1936 – September 6, 2018. He was hugely entertaining when I was a young lad, Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit were big hits in my house growing up. Of course when I got older there was Deliverance and i loved him in Boogie Nights, too. May you and your famous chest rug rest in peace, Burt. Thanks for making me laugh like a drain on many occasions.
I'm old enough to remember my folks occasionally letting me stay up late in the 70s to watch Carson when Reynolds was on because I absolutely loved their chemistry. He was one entertaining SOB.
Sad news to hear. However you felt about him or his movies, he was a mainstay on the screen for a span of decades that few other film stars could ever approach. In that sense, he is a modern legend, if any such exists. I am sure all of us have at least seen one or a couple of his movies, and likely upon reflection it brought a smile, a laugh, or some joy into our lives. Thanks for the memories, Burt.
Jamie Blake : I just want to thank you for informin' them about us back in Missouri. You know, how we're flashers and sex maniacs. J.J. McClure : Well, I was just repayin' you for what you and the Chocolate Monk did back in Ohio. Fenderbaum : Chocolate Monk? Jamie Blake : He can say that. Yeah, he can say that, cause he's ridin' around with the Good Year blimp!
Lewis Medlock, Bo "Bandit" Darville, all of those stunts he did himself, and that classic laugh. You won't be forgotten Burton Leon Reynolds Jr.
