First off, an absolutely beautiful movie. Cinematography and set design are leagues ahead of any movie in decades.
Unfortunately I found myself bored as Hell a half hour in, to the point of nodding out and trying to stay awake.
With the exception of Back To the Future, Blade Runner is my most viewed and cherished movie. I made the point of rewatching the "Final Cut" immediately before the first screening of 2049. This may have hindered my experience. Is it right to compare the two?
Anyway, I'm tired. I just wanted to catch some takes from the skullbrain community.
    If that's still I thing.
    I hope it is.

Going to see it w/ my son in IMAX tomorrow night. Got my expectations down low- not that I think it won't be good, but in this case I'm willing to be satisfied just by visual envelopment and some lovely Deakins cinematography.

Did you guys watch this yet ? It would have been a nice touch to show it before the movie, like old cartoons.

Whoa, this is out? I really don't keep up with stuff. Normally I never wouldn't' have harbored any glimmer of hope for this being decent, but goddamn Fury Road was so cool, I'm conditioned to not entirely write this kind of thing off now.

Oh, I meant to watch that anime thing. Did anyone see this fan short? It's actually pretty cool.

It's got an 82 on Metacrtitc based on 49 critics, so that is very encouraging to me. I know a lot of folks don't care about critics, but Metacritic does their thing pretty honestly unlike, say, Rotten Tomatoes. I mean, at the very least it's going to be decent. Might be a while before I see it, though.

It was alright. I had some issues with it but, overall, I enjoyed it.

I thought it moved along rather slow. I saw it in imax and thought the sci-fi noises irritated me.

Watched it with some friends and their comment after was why did they have to make another one?

    Why the fuck make anything?

I loved it, enjoyed staring at beautiful post climate disaster scenery for almost three hours.

I thought it was terrific. It was long and slow, but that didn't bother me at all - it just prolonged the beauty. I'm sure if I wanted to I could find some issues to complain about, but why would I?

I just saw it. I enjoyed it. Seemed a very plausible and continuous sequel.

I was kind of hoping Deckard was not a Replicant but didn't get mad like I thought I would when it was revealed he was.

I found it to be a great sequel with still unanswered questions. Not forced at all and the time gap between the first film and this explains much of the tech change in a realistic manner. I hope to catch it again in IMAX if I can.

I really, really enjoyed the movie, but it definitely has enough flaws that I don't quite get the "new classic" image some reviews gave it.

I liked the subtle relationships between the characters, especially K and his house assistant, K and his boss, and K and the baddie.
I didn't like that in the end, the story boiled down to a McGuffin quest that left me totally uninvolved throughout the 3-hour runtime.

I liked that the music was very often absent, and beautiful and overwhelming (in a good sense) when it was present. Flying Lotus *love*.
I didn't like that the music often stuck to the "BRAAAAP" (pause) "BRAAAAP" trope of recent years.

I loved the set design. It looked -fantastic- and I could have watched many more slow pans across random sceneries.
I didn't like that the core aesthetics still boiled down to a teal/orange dichotomy.

I liked that the fight scenes and the characters' abusive punishment made sense as they are androids who can presumably take a beating.
    I didn't like that it involved a tropey shoot-at-the-final-boss, then-fist-fight.

    Random thoughts:
-There's a face scanner to connect to the computer, but no voice recognition? Hmm.
-The house computer sees everything, but missed the tracking device that the prostitute put in K's pocket?
-So many boobs. Which would be fine, but becomes rather sexist when the male equivalent isn't on display, at all.
-Oooh, that lovely "the future is Asian" trope with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi signs everywhere - but no Asian person except a child in a made-up memory.
-I don't get the core precept of making sentient androids that consume resources and need emotional support in the first place. I don't recall if that's ever explained in the book, but the scifi bits are not what's riveting/important in Dick's novels. This movie is too blockbustery to get a pass on loose ends.

I liked it a lot and i'm a big fan of the original. As mentioned above, some people might find it slow paced and overly long, but i found it very engaging and the time flew by. Its very atmospheric and quite subtle, not all in your face all the time. Good stuff.
