Willow Glen Roasting Company on Lincoln Avenue in Downtown Willow Glen (San Jose) - If you like a bold strong coffee, pick up the Oaxaca freshly ground - Definitely will giv you some pep to your step in the morning
that pretty much sums up my feeling towards starbucks, as well. blue bottle is terrific. philz coffee wins my best of the bay award.
I have to have at least 3 cups in the morning or I'm pissy all day. None of those coffee places make it strong enough, and as any java junkie knows home brewing is where it's at. Besides its way cheaper. I usually hit the Co-Op down the street and grind myself some Equal Exchange Fair Trade Organic French Roast, Espresso or Love Buzz. Darker the better. I like a strong taste but a smooth finish.
Sometimes I hate my own posts from five years ago but at least in 2007 or for that matter 1987 I knew that there was no such thing as expresso. Or Frappuccino. Or large cappuccino. Or whatever dumbed down twisted insult to Italy and coffee a certain Seattle-based company hawked. Still, it's embarrassing to read "oh wow gotta try this Blue Bottle thing" now that they're overexposed and not as good as any other number of SF-based brands.
So many DEAN! I don't know if I've mentioned but I started drinking coffee about 4 months ago. Sight glass is my favorite, followed by Trouble & Ritual. Although I think I mostly go to trouble for their toast. Last time scott came to town I think he had nothing but 4 cups for half the day.
World Market has some pretty good gourmet roasted beans. Some good imports from Hawaii too. This has been one of my favorites recently... http://www.hawaiianisles.com/Kona-Sunri ... _p_72.html
If a person takes up coffee, are they still x straight edge? x Totally kidding. De La Paz is good. Cumaica ain't bad. Will try Sightglass.
