Not sure why, but have become curious about some old toys I had when I was a kid. I am pretty certain they were called "Another World" (or "Other World" maybe) at least over here in Oz. Basically they were bendy toys - rubber with wire inside - and were fantasy based heroes and villains. There were a fair few characters and bigger monster sets. There were little orange or purple guys that came with each character too. All the weapons were GID. Anybody got any info on these? I can't seem to locate any info online at all. I'm just interested to read about this stuff for some unkown reason!!
Just found this bit of background and pics of the toys: http://www.virtualtoychest.com/otherworld/otherworld.html Cn't believe I had nearly the whole set. Didn't have the castle as a kid. They are worth a bit these days - especially in a box, but loose too.
Billy Galaxy usually has some for sale on his site. they're fucking awesome, especially the little purple dwarf dudes.
I noticed Billy Galaxy had some Other World gear for sale. Pricey, but MIB gets that. I think Other World was a bit of a cash in on the HeMan success. Cheap bendy guys with GID gimick. Still they were cool figures at the time for me. I still have them all packed away somewhere too. Blackstar I haven't seen or heard of before. Those Demons do look cool.
Holy crap...I def had that green Blackstar demon guy...now I have to find pics of the rest of the toys. Wasn't there some evil knight guy with horns on his helmet?
That's cool Z. My guys had run their race I think...now I'm learning about these critters I ain't seen before. Now sparks is a cool addition to a toy for sure.
YEP. The spark were from a flint wheel. Kinda like what you would find on a lighter. I sold all these fellas on ebay last year. Along with my Otherworld figs. Otherworld was put out by a company called Arco.
Ahh..those Darkstar guys look odd for sure. The yellow bee guy especially. Was there any sort of cartoon attached to the toys? What size were they?
The figs were a good 7 or 8 inches. I never saw the cartoon but there was one. http://www.nightstoneunlimited.com/BlackstarMain.htm
Oh my god. What a nostalgia trip! I had a load of those. The two headed dragon was my favourite thing ever. I had the castle too.
YOu can still get Dark star stuff pretty cheap open on ebay i have some of them still great figs that i just put back out you guys should also check out the tonka holographic super naturals
I'm totally stoked on blackstar coming on dvd. I have really fond memories of it. Dungeons and Dragons is getting released really soon too.
