So this is where it's at right now. The wooden cases, sadly, were not shipped over.

Note the stylish, high-quality cardboard stabilizers under the front panels.

New (sort of) Pegimon... Looks like Yajima-san used a generous amount of clear coat on these, because this one is super glossy.

Joe- I think I am required to fulfill my furniture building duties before I may have people over. But I'd definitely like to see your collection in-person as well one day.

I see some great stuff hiding in the bottom.
I can help you display them until your cases arrive.
But anytime you want to stop by, just let me know.

The paint application on the pegimon is outstanding. Can't wait to see what it looks like unpacked.

    Cheers

Re: [6/19/08] akum6n's junk... new beginnings.

It's a Billy bookshelf from Ikea with glass doors (Morebo) and the optional glass shelf (Billy). I like it because of the lower profile (stability), but the downside is that it is quite a bit more expensive than a Detolf.

I will probably buy an additional glass shelf to make better use of the space.

Decided to finish off my afternoon of cleaning with a reorganization of the display case.

I'll probably end up moving things around- the Agons on the top are kind of hidden. Oh well, good excuse to take more photos later. :)

Re: [8/31/08] Big Bug Battle & Henshin Heroes!

Very nice toys and display. I'm picking up a billy cabinet this week. I read that it helps to anchor against the wall which I'll probably do because of my son.
I'd like to see more pegimons though. Huge fan of the paint job.

By the way what's on top of the egg?

Nice upgrade on those shelves... I suppose the cloth on top of the Kaiju egg is a towel of some sorts used for cleaning. Cool to see the Gargamel mouse lurking beside the Eaton.

Re: [8/31/08] Big Bug Battle & Henshin Heroes!

Heh, well the truth is actually a little more OCD. It's a pair of white cotton gloves that I use for handling some of the toys with more delicate paint applications- a precaution against scratching them with my fingernails.

I didn't notice it was there until after the photo.

Re: [8/31/08] Big Bug Battle & Henshin Heroes!

Something a little different... maybe our friends in HK will recognize these fellows.

Couple of 12" figures made in 2003 by a company called Dog 9, and taken from the landmark HK tokusatsu flick, "The Super Inframan." I found them on the cheap in an old stock sale and had to have the Skeleton Ghost toy. Once I had the villain, I couldn't pass on the hero.

These have an interesting background, as they literally 'remix' elements of iconic Japanese live-action heroes. Now to find some doll (er, 1/6th figure) stands...

Waiting for this box was painful.

A preview... These are small 1/60 scale dinosaur vinyls made by Clover in the early 80s. Some of them were packaged with little in-scale cavemen.

I love the packaging on these guys.

    More to follow.

Very nice stuff, Daniel. I'm interested to see what's in that box!

I noticed you've already got what I was going to send to you as a gift. That's ok, though, I've thought of something else.

The funny part about Inframan and the Ghost is that they were listed as generic Ultraman toys when sold. Together they cost me about as much as a RxH mini. ;P

Re: [10/2/08] Summer of Celga arrives! (see last page)

    Hokay. Clover dinos out first:

Some of these are actually by Sun & Brownie. I think the S&Bs are the originals and were reissued by Clover as they all bear the same S&B stamp. S&Bs didn't come with cavemen as far as I know.

There are some slight differences in the painting between the Clover and S&B versions.

Only the larger models (priced between 1350 and 500 JPY, if you can believe that) came with the cavemen figures. Pretty amazing detail on these for such tiny toys.

The tagged one in front is by Clover, and the one in back is by S&B. Paint is a little darker on the S&B.

If you're curious, I have the catalog with the entire Clover lineup. I'll try to scan and post in the vintage dino thread.

Fascinating selection of dinosaurs, and pretty darn hard to find for some reason.

    Other stuff...

Test shot of Marmit's Meganuron toy. This is the same character that was done by Toygraph, but in the 'walking' pose.

I have these guys too, buried in my garage! They are Soooooooooooooo coool...makes me want to find 'em. I think Super Infra Man was actually a HK live action show? I have a matching set of kubrick-stle figures with a VCD that I wasn't able to play.

First off I LOOOVEEE Inframan! I was exposed to him long before Ultraman when I was little. Inframan was the first multi million budgeted Chinese sci-fi flick that was created in collaboration with the creator of Ultraman back in 1975. You could say it was a Chinese/Japanese hybrid. The movie is AWESOME even by todays standards, far superior to any 70's Japanese tokusatsu in terms of constant action and special effects.

Highly recommended. Getting those figures was a childhood dream come true, and I picked them up as soon as they came out in 2003. They were limited to only 130 sets.
;) Good stuff you got there.
