I totally agree with this. People need to not be so entitled and just blown away by how rude people have become.

They were also not keeping on schedule which was irritating. Considering this format forces you to go look for the seller you want as some are not showing in certain searches. It was not easy to navigate.

Damn. Being rude to sellers who are already losing 20% of every sale to Dcon is pretty messed up.

So apparently you did not need a VIP ticket to purchase stuff today. Just the normal $10 dollar ticket. People with VIP tickets got so mad that non-vip people were buying everything that they demanded refunds and said they are doing credit card charge backs to get their money back. So now Dcon announced that all the purchases from non-vip people will be cancelled. Which has got to really suck for all the vendors who sold out of stock today to those customers and had no way of knowing who was or was not a vip. Guess the vendors need to try and sell the stock again tomorrow if they find out by then what is cancelled.

It’s making me think that is why it was so freakin hard to buy anything! Too many people at once.
Damn mess. I mean it must be super frustrating for the sellers especially to have to regroup. I saw so many livid people on the DCON IG.

You'd think it would be sooooo much easier to refund the VIP ticket buyers instead of making all those vendors try to sell their stock all over again.

But I guess that would cost Dcon money instead of the vendors themselves.

wow. I'm glad I didn't try to log on tonight.
Just wow. Thanks for the info. This sounds awful
Ten bucks isn't much to throw away to check this thing out, but now....I don't know if I feel like being pissed off because someother adult bought my dolly. Eh...I'll still check it out. I'm curious.

A bunch of you nerds getting cartjacked, what did anyone expect? Of course they would start hurling insults immediately at anyone

From what it reads it seems like a bunch of drops in the days of 3A hype

For stuff that was not in demand, it was pretty easy to just browse and pick something out. I picked up a peanut killer from TAG and a Salary Ika (LOL) from Creature Bazaar. I noticed a few sellers were not doing drops of exclusives, but instead had a wall of stuff behind them and were chatting with customers who wanted to check things out, then they would list the item so it could be purchased. So more of an interactive approach. I think that's more what this format is supposed to be like.

Definitely did not go entirely as I'd hoped, though I'm not surprised by the hurdles considering the updated platform and flood of users. That being said I landed virtually everything I was aiming for. To be fair, I've been using the app since July and knew how to navigate using a combination of devices. I was most successful with the web browser, manually inputting URLs to find shops. I noticed a lot of the regulars who seemed to be doing the same. By contrast, it seems people who never used the app before DCON (i.e. the mass of people who bought a ticket to "cop that BE@RBRICK" for StockX fodder) most probably got overwhelmed and thought the system was working against them.

Ben announced late last night on Instagram that after talking with Popshop they did find a bug which allowed people who had a general admission ticket to make purchases . They allege that this accounted for only 2-3% of sales and said they were going to cancel all of those orders. Believe what you will about that.

Right now my biggest gripe was I purchased one product from the Medicom booth and rightfully assumed I was buying the one in the picture. I soon became confident that they used the wrong stock image and I bought something else. If my assumptions are correct I will be demanding a refund for that one.

As for the smaller booths, Sputnik Supplies was great. I was talking with him for 20 min. or so as he gave me a rundown of his process. Super informative, really nice guy. Creature Bazaar did awesome with their art installation-esque release format. My Plastic Heart was kind enough to wait a bit before listing each time to try and give people who couldn't find the show a fair chance at landing some of the more limited products.

It's hard to find shops. Then you find them and they say their not open. Then you open a new browser and they've been open for an hour. Pretty tough. But kind of fun. I already bought something I regret, so it's a lot like Dcon!

I think I'm just going to set up a folding table in my backyard, put my collegiate logo banner on it and then vomit up my toys. And then promptly sit there all day. All by myself. Just like the real thing.

Second chances in the morning lead to some more spending but some things I never thought I’d have and always wanted at least one version of the sculpt, including that CCP Hawaii colorway Hedorah.
And like usual DCON, I am already spent by Saturday morning.
I’m just simply watching artists and sellers now. Chris Mitchell from Q Pop is a hilarious joy to watch and incredibly kind. So are the folks at MPH.
Still disjointed and very small chance of getting anything that is of a small edition but it ran a bit more smoothly today. I think after last night’s catastrophe they wanted to make sure they made it up.
I noticed from watching items go up, I think it’s more wise imo to just post chunks at a time instead of singular releases so the stream doesn’t freeze up and shut down and there’s less focus on a specific item, hence a better chance of getting it. But hey, I’m not sellin’ so.

Sure thing. The product in question was listed as "Blue Eye Morris." They used the picture of the blue eyes Prop Morris, but I am almost certain that it was the standard sofubi figure they were selling—they had the latter on display in the room while the other was nowhere to be seen. The price seemed too good to be true for the former, but because I've purchased a fair share of items from 3D Retro at extreme discounts over the last few months it wasn't completely unbelievable. In retrospect it should have been obvious that it was a cataloging error, but things were going so quick, I acted fast without much thought. I recently purchased the original variant for my wife and was excited to potentially get this one for her as well.

I did see other people asking if they could see the Morris and if it was indeed the "furry one," but their calls were never answered (too many people asking too many questions). I assume Ben and the team will be getting a few e-mails.

I call bullshit. Dudes got greedy, thought they could pull off the obvious cash grab, it back fired and they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Making matters worse, they cancelled all those orders from patrons who innocently bought items, then had their items pulled. Cluster fuck is not a term big enough for this epic failure. Like I said, Dcon needs to go away.

I wouldn't call anyone who tried to make a purchase without a proper ticket acting innocently. People knew what they were doing. No sympathy here for anyone who had their order cancelled.

I don't know. I can imagine a few people getting general admission and then being able to just hop on pop shop not understanding that they are taking advantage. My first purchase was at 9:30am on Sat, and I was general admission. I was curious how buying would work and I was able to buy half an hour early. I had fun looking through the sites on Sat. It was confusing finding sellers, and I felt like it was stressful for the sellers having to be "on" the whole time. But it was fun. Dcon is my favorite convention of the year, so I definitely don't want it to go away.

Gotcha, I remember a bunch of chatter about that one. I truly think they just needed someone with more product knowledge handling the listings. Pretty sure they were using you on Sunday to help out :) I got the MCT Godzilla based off the image they posted but the exact product was never shown AFAIK, there was another Godzilla shown but it didn't match up. Finger's crossed... Put me on the list of people who enjoy DCON, without it, access to some of these sellers would be very difficult and getting the products without lotteries is sometimes impossible. It was a cluster but I don't think there was any ill intention from the planners. The platform is young and wasn't ready for this kind of event, that much was obvious and I expected it going in.

You could click on vendors IG bio links and get in the shows without any ticket and without having the app at all. I watched a bunch of sellers just by clicking their links on my android device. No app no ticket no nothing. If I clicked on an item it said enter my phone number or something.

Yeah, it seemed like you could do that. Actually, I'm pretty sure that's what I was doing on Sat. I didn't figure out how to go to the Dcon event until sunday. Very happy I didn't spend 75 bucks on the VIP.
Not sure what happened with Creature Bazaar, but based on their IG, they weren't doing sunday and they seemed frustrated about something.
Also, it was crazy to me how many sellers didn't know much about the toys they were selling. Or, just 3d retro didn't know much about many of the toys they were selling.

I watched a bunch of what creature bazaar did. It was pretty great actually. They showed old awful/awesome movies and cartoons and used the toys as commercial breaks then went back to the movies and cartoons. They gave countdowns before dropping stuff as well. It was very well done. I think they avoided Sunday because they sold everything they had?
