    LoL

the fact they are also very obviously symmetrically mirrored digital sculpts just feels like the fuck-you-cherry-on-top of the soulless ice cream Sunday ;)

So... I saw the post in instagram Friday night. Thought 'Wow an actual chance at a hxs raffle!' I set the clock to get up early in the morning. Slept very happy. Got up in the morning, bought my ticket online. Drove to Anaheim super happy. Got in line. waited about an hour to get in. finally got in and lined up in the medicom line. after an hour I got inside the booth and asked how the hxs raffle is going to be done. The staff told me the raffle is already over and it was only available to the VIPs.
    WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure why, but I’m getting a digital sculpt kind of vibe from this new Kong. It’s a similar feel to the newer Medicom Anrakus…like it’s too smooth or something

Hirota’s output is crazy…SIX new sculpts debuted at his latest show. I am a big fan of MG3. I just hope I have a chance at the Kiku print to go with my others but not likely to happen

I don't know what the Kiku print is you mean Kevin (with/in homage to Hirota, maybe), but I am still desperately after one his Ultra ones.... and a full body piece to match, too.

Ah hahahahahah. The new robonoid sculpt is awesome.
The fact that the robonoid driver figure is in sitting pose takes me back to my childhood memory of the Future boy Conan toy that I had. I absolutely love it! The robonoid cockpit even has the control sticks and the figure hands can hold on to them! Exactly like the original robonoid plastic model design! YES!
photos can be seen at robomk2 instagram

robonoids were large mechs that you sit in and control. so all the figures are in their sitting pose. which looks fine when they are in the robonoid but when they are out, the pose just always cracked me up.

This is the plastic model from my childhood.

I know we are getting slightly off topic (but hey, it's the HxS thread), but GKIDS just recently (a couple weeks ago) released a 4k restored version of of the original 26-episode show, Future Boy Conan (未来少年コナン), on bluray. Although not overly popular/a critical success, I don't think most people realise this was the directorial debut of Hayao Miyazaki.

That Conan figure is the ancestor of all Japanese powered suits. It's glorious.

I’ll admit that I think the red dragon kaiju is pretty bad ass. I love a chonky beast. His piloted mecha thing reminds me way too much of Planet x Asia’s Mecha Goliathon, just without a head and a little dude drivin’ it. His other two full size mechs look like parodies of his own work. Like he Target Earthed himself. Not at all bad, just…uninspired, I guess? Mind you this is comin’ from someone that’s found just about everything he does as average, sans King Ju and the OG Mecha Gorilla Ju.

The other mecha gorilla with the claw arms is too cartoony for me with those proportions; it’s like Cartoon Network rebooting Thundercats or the TMNT reboot. Not to mention the librarian glasses…

@Russblue11 I didn’t even notice it has claw arms. The way they sit inward to the body makes it look like he’s either flexing or he’s a Looney Tunes gangster. The overall design, though, looks very Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog.

This might be frowned upon here, but I randomly pulled some images from the show (shared by various instagram users) just to add some context to these new designs everyone is discussing above. So not my photos, and apologies if they are yours. If this breaks any rules or codes of conduct / general morality just DM me and I'll take them down.

Sorta feeling some Anraku inspiration in the girthy bros here. Anyone else? Chonky chonks.

The helmets come off and the figure is removable I think. Which is impressive.
    [IMG] [IMG]
The translucent eyes are a nice touch. Looks like a warning siren with the inner ridges [IMG]
Honestly, don't even know if this has new parts, or all the same as before. The robots all sorta blend together for me. I'm largely here for the monsters.[IMG]

Interesting angled elbow (and wrist?) articulation. Gives you some neat options for action poses.

all too perfect and symmetrical for my tastes but I admire the engineering , I agree on the planet x asia comparison , digital sculpts always look so stiff to me.

Yes, the money around this show will keep a whole generation of junior varsity mech makers hyped until next years. And we will all have access to plenty of $300 inspired by robots that we speculate we can sell for a grand on eBay, or trade for a tkom toy.

I like the two chonky dragons a lot.
Definitely something of Anraku and to my eyes they have more than enough personalities to stand on their own.
Im also reminded of NNN Godzillas who are my type of chunk too. NNN are fierce and those guys here are hilarious with their little wings so it’s not the same but/and they give a similar feeling.

Those robots don’t do anything for me though.

This 'Make me an offer' sales methodology for a professional artist/manufacturer's show is on par with the Toky dudes 'Anti resale Union' nonsense . . . blech!

Instaglory has a lot to answer for!
