    via japancrush:
"When a wife posted to an Internet forum that she’d thrown out her husband’s prized collection of stickers, little did she imagine that she’d have hoards of netizens cursing her. But that’s exactly what happened.
The husband had been collecting Bikkuriman stickers, which used to come with children’s snacks. Some of the stickers are now so rare, that they some are worth upwards of $2000 dollars a pop.
The outrage was so great, that is prompted an article questioning the extent to which the wife was criminally liable for getting rid of her husband’s stickers.
Should the wife be thrown in the slammer? Or is marital harmony priceless?"

Interesting article. 2ch is always great for comments. :)
In all seriousness though, this one in particular might offer some useful insight for people on this forum:

Even if they weren't valuable...a wife, girlfriend, or parent shouldn't just throw something away that you enjoy!

Re: "Wife Disposes Of Husband’s Treasured Bikkuriman Sticker

Or just get revenge. Sure it might seem petty but can be worth it. I don't know what I'd do if my significant other destroyed a lifetime of work collecting something. Probably blow up their car, definitely make them lose their job, and any other devious shit I could think of. Revenge would probably take place over decades not just a one time event. Hey fair is fair right if they destroyed years of something you tried to do?

I once had a g/f who attended Wesleyan in Connecticut get into an argument with me in the middle of the night and throw all my clothes, watch, and most importantly my family ring out a dorm 2nd story window. Mind you it's late October and the leaves are covering the hillside she did this on. I proceeded to take her brand new laptop, rip it out of the it's connections and toss it out the window into a tree splitting it in half. Guess what? All her final papers were on it not backed up. "Hey it sucks to be you!" I said. Better yet after combing the grounds for a few hours I found that damn ring under all the leaves. Point of the story is you definitely should not fuck with people shit. If you do be prepared to battle.

I mean I get why loved ones do these things. The woman who did this probably wanted to hurt the guy and maybe even thought he cared more about those stickers than her. It's irrational and ridiculous but some people actually do think like this (that others love inanimate objects more than them). It can seem like that but 9 out of 10 times you are being a mean spirited crappy person if you don't accept a person for who they are. I mean if they are mortgaging your house and stealing from you- that's a different story altogether. People who trash other peoples collection should fill their lives up with things that make them happy, stop controlling and being petty.

I don't consider myself to be vengeful at all, but I can admit if someone were to steal or destroy my collection I would have a hard time not wanting get even. I think part of the issue would be, besides just it's value and my attachment, I (like many collectors) put a lot of time and effort into hunting, researching, discussing, photographing, etc. related to my collection, time and effort which could easily be displaced into fucking with someone should that outlet be suddenly quashed. I'd probably resist if it really came down to it, not because of fear of the law or that it is morally wrong, but because I find personally it feels really gross to participate with that sort of hate, and I would want to focus on forgiving and moving past solely for my own benefit instead of getting lost angrily perseverating on something which can't be undone. It's too bad though, because I am creative and would probably be really good vengeance if I put even half the effort I do into my collecting persuits

Lixx... I don't care what anyone says, what you did was justice. My gawd, you do NOT mess with family heirlooms. EVER.

I don't understand why people do this kind of shit if they want to be forgiven at some point. It's like alright, you're mad. You think destroying something that the person you're mad at holds dear will make things better? Why would you WANT to hurt that person if you care about them?
I don't get it. Even when I had an unamicable break up, I never went full asshole and destroyed things. I gave gifts he gave me away, but I didn't burn them in my yard while chanting death wishes. (My ex actually asked if I did, and was surprised I said I didn't. Am I really THAT crazy? )

Doesn't seem that unusual to me . . . . my brothers friend had the same thing happen to him.
His wife got obsessed with minimizing their belongings and 'de-cluttering' their house.

He tried to play along by getting rid of stuff but it apparently wasn't enough for her. He was shopping in a local charity shop and saw someone
buying a really rare vinyl record that he recognized . . . he thought to himself, "oh, i have that cool record in my collection at home".

WRONG. Unknown to him and completely without his permission she had taken a big load of his belongings, including tons of rare records
to the local charity shop. The record he saw the guy buying was the very one from his collection.

They are still together . . . my brother says he just had to let it slide, apparently.

I read the article. His stickers were in a binder! How much space is a binder taking?! I'd pawn all her jewelry to get even.

If that happened to me and something I have had since childhood was just thrown away without even asking me, I will bury you.

Besides, you just don't de-clutter en masse. Every time we purge and go through our things we do it together and as often as we can. That's why I bring those paper boxes from the office. Fill it up with what can be donated, recycle what can be recycled and throw everything else if it is trash. - Maddie

Bringing this thread back from the past. I love the article that prompted OP to use the like for the thread title.

Anyone here collect Bikkuriman seals? I use to have a fairly large collection years ago that I ended up letting go for “pennies on the seal”. Over the last few years I’ve been drawn back in by Gundam and Evangelion cross promotion releases. Last year @moshi and I opened many packs outside of Don Quixote in Japan trying to complete the Gundam set. So... who loves, hates (buys for the seal and tosses the wafer) and collects these useless little squares?!

I have the ones that came with a the transformers and horror Keshi surprise from super7, and a few random Star Wars and Kinnikuman... and a few older Gargamel ones too. Globby and S-Taiin I think. I’ve always wanted a binder for them.. I heard coin collecting binder pages work, is that
    Accurate?

I don't get how you could be married and your partner not know the importance of your collection? Like, "oh, i never mentioned to my wife that i have a sticker collection worth thousands of dollars"???

The binder Todd linked is the one I have too. I'm due for a new one as my first one is almost filled up, even with extra sleeves added...

I have two full cases of waffers coming from Japan, it was easier to buy (and cheaper) when I actually lived there...

I also have a bunch of duplicate stickers I will put online at some point, just got to find some time to do it.

I love me some stickers, but I’ve never really gotten into Bikkuriman is because I don’t know the characters depicted on them. Specialty versions aside (Star Wars, kinnikuman, etc...) Was this a comic, or a cartoon at some point?

Who are all these characters? I recognize and know of a lot of Japanese shows/comics/brands I don’t actively follow, but I don’t know thing one about Bikkuriman.
Can anyone nutshell it for me?

I only have a few of these stickers, (mostly knockoff) that were given to me as freebies in trades or sales. I had some Digimon & Yugioh stickers in a similar vein, but those weren’t the exact dimensions, nor were they included with snack packs.

@hellopike - I checked Wikipedia, and it looks like Toie had a cartoon running from 1988 - 2007, but I think the candy (and the character stickers) came first.

On the subject of husband/wife drama - this is a weird one to me. I think this could only happen if a.) she got really mad at him, mad enough to scar him for life, then feigned ignorance; or b.) he had kept this hidden from her the whole time they were married, never included her, and never told her how much it meant to him. Reading this, it’s like, “was this an arranged marriage?”

I bought them on amazon.jp, iirc I couldnt have them shipped to France, so I had them shipped to my wife's company. They sometime send us stuff so I added those to the parcel. Otherwise, I use tenso forwarding service.

It was easier when I was the guy sending the cases all over the world...

While we are on Bikkuriman, I thought about sharing some pictures from my collection. Even if I have a few hundreds seals, I have nowhere near thousand of $$$ worth of those like the poor guy this thread is about. I'd still be bummed if my wife tossed these (she knows better, having bought so many waffers for me when we were living in Tokyo...). Pics quality sucks for whatever reason, sorry.

Retro World Korea has these come in from time-to-time, and I've never had a problem getting him to ship from Seoul to USA. I'm kinda surprised he doesn't have a presence on this board. He has lots of fun soft vinyl knockoffs come through his shop. The prices are reasonable on the stickers, but the caveat is they're usually picked-over. I think he generally buys cases for himself and then sells the dupes. Or he'll find bulk lots here-and-there and resell on his site.

Side note: I picked up a Wonder Ball today, to see how the stickers compare to Bikkuriman. They’re similar size (but about a centimeter smaller, length-wise and width-wise). There’s also big “made in China” text across the side, which takes away from the aesthetics. But more importantly, the character outlines are cut out, and the two stickers in the box are joined by a perforated line; the combination of these two things mean you’re unlikely to keep the whole square intact, if you decided to add these to your Bikkuriman binder.
