Very cool work Michael. I think you've achieved just the right amount of detail with this sculpt, it captures your aesthetic, and is also not over the top with added stuff plaguing so many other new toys these days. I can imagine some really nice paint schemes inspired from your own work on this guy. I also like how the scale looks like he would fit right in with Bwana's stuff; they could easily form a miscreant gang.
Looks great Michael. They sold out super fast. I was especially disappointed to miss that gid version.
Fer posterity: Just as well that the algorithms robbed me of knowing when the drop time was, as all my scratch has been wasted elsewhere.
Lol I love finding out about a toy *existing* and then nothing else, then posts about how it *was* for sale! There's gotta be a better way to do this shit. (This is a general gripe more than a specific one I guess, but yeah)
It was posted all over IG when/where it would be for sale. That said, I still missed out too, but because of my own fault.
I sort of get what Zack is saying. Even though the recent pandemic/WFH has had me able to access IG and it's wealth of toy sharing, it is unfortunate (personal opinion) that this has become the de facto method of getting toy information. I thought that is what SB was geared for. Alas though, I will add that even knowing when it was for sale didn't help, as this seemed to fit in with so many toy drops these days where it sells out in seconds flat (no doubt again to the audience IG reaches), and you either got lucky or you didn't. Heck, even a scheduled shop drop feels like a lottery these days. * Not intended as a gripe in any way against Michael, or anyone; just a general reflection on toy collecting in 2020
I do follow the artist! Lol. And like, the algorithm abides, or whatever. I knew I'd probably get dunked on, but again—this isn't me griping about Michael, I'm just... annoyed with the diffusion of information. I follow enough people on IG that I rarely see announcements of drops, so maybe that's my mistake. But this isn't the first time I've looked at a thread here, seen a cool toy being talked about or even announced, and then like a week or two later, people are like "wow here's the one I copped in that release." Whatever—I guess I just don't really get why people don't post here about drops before they happen anymore, but I also don't expect the world to conform to my needs. As @ultrakaiju said, regular releases are feeling like lotteries these days, so maybe it's a moot point anyway. Maybe I need to just suck it up and start a sofubi-only IG account. TL;DR: My griping is just me blowing off some steam, and not an indictment of any one person, and def not Michael or even SB. Anyway! Hell Frog is cool!
thanks for the kind words and comments- I got scolded here once by someone for advertising a drop time, so i've kind of avoided doing it myself since then. i also felt weird advertising stuff for sale during pandeminc- social uprisings- protesting and supporting fundraisers as well. having said that- i wasnt prepared to have these sell out in 30 seconds either. i didnt make a lot, i wasnt sure how this would go over. ive got another order of toys on the way soon, hopefully more to go around this time. might have to figure out a new sales tactic as my new website/ shop froze my paypal and bank account both due to them thinking i was up to something fraudulent ;-/ if its okay with the powers that be, ill post about the release method and such here unless someone beats me to it! thanks again to those that were able to snag one!
Good news! I’m so happy for the success of hell frog. Missing that GID was a bummer but I know more are coming! Super cool new character mike!
