I hate to say it but its not gonna stop. If FB and IG are anything to go by, there's an insatiable appetite for customs. I think it increases 'exclusivity' and 'bragging rights', it also makes these collectors feel more involved, like they can personalise their purchases. Like sewing a monogram into your favourite item of clothing ...

Or hot gluing a thousand and four bits of random shiny fabric onto your handmade Maurice Malone jeans.

Sidebar --- I wasn't certain if I needed a dash or not between hot and glue, and in so confirming I learned about this:

    Yep. Checks out.

I think it’s been said here before, but maybe it would help to look at the customs scene as a totally different hobby, so you don’t drive yourself crazy. That being said, when they’re ruining toys that lots of folks have been hunting for years...eh...that’s tough.

A totally different hobby that they should find/make their own materials for to ruin! Not dip into this hobby's limited well... That's the thing, even blanks are limited and art pieces unto themselves. If they were a dime a dozen then who would care!

People actually look for, and pay good money for a Galtan. If someone wanted to customize a blank of a toy that's more readily available, okay, you're still ruining the toy because your custom game sucks. But at LEAST you're not taking a toy that people prize and seek, and forever destroying it.

ORRRR if I can make a suggestion to the toy ruiners, how about you go back to customizing KR platform toys? Nobody gives two shits if you cut open a "dummy".

I can't wait to see this new root vegetable dildo-with-legs painted up as the Andromeda galaxy. ;)

(to be fair, at least he paints his own toys a lot of the time, and doesn't just solely ruin other makers toys)

The illustration itself is cool - as far as the execution and techniques go, but the toy itself makes me want to wretch. Could almost be passable if it didn't have the Mickey ears and nose...

You learn something new every day!

Possibly a good slang term for over zealous show-boating custom paint work?

Is that supposed to be a restyled Eyezon? I'm pretty sure this is the potato you leave in the back of the pantry and rediscover much later.

I'm with you there, I'm absofuckinglutely tired to death of seeing Mickey shit. Without any reference to Mickey, that fig would be kind of cute... I mean, it'd be a Teenage Hedorah. What the hell does Mickey have to do with Hedorah anyway? A pop culture reference for no reason, because "why not"?
    Blech.

It’s hard to believe Mark chose this direction as the next evolution of Eyezon as the last version and mini version were both so good.

We’ve gone from galaxies, all-metallic, and oil slick paint jobs to... watermelon.

Personally Id prefer watermelon over galaxy diarrhea and badly done oil slick paint apps

I kinda like this new sculpt! It's almost as if it's a suit-accurate toy of the Eyezon in a movie that's never been made. I think with the right paints it might look pretty cool.

Its not about the sculpt for me in this case. I don't hate it, even though it just looks like an old potato. What i'm seeing, is an extra large blank canvas, that the painters are gonna go mad with. I'm tired of seeing toys being upstaged by flashy paint, and this one is gonna be perfect for that.

I'm on a real anti-custom rant at the moment. Not sure if anyone has picked up on it ;)
