I typically hold off on sealed vintage, but this lil' sludgie was just too enticing to pass up: Uh, oh...
So sweet, Zazahn remains a forever favourite for me, and (while admittedly there is not exactly an abundance of Z toys) the Bullmark mini is probably just about the best and most fun rendering a toy nerd could hope for. Mark, phenomenal addition! I adore the Hedo mini, and he looks even more special next to his big brother. Interesting that the mini is still packaged with a fully 'Tsuburaya' header, haha, I always knew I wasn't cheating on my first love with my smog monster adorations.
I'm not too familiar with bullmark minis but mandarake has a bullmark ikari for sale, it's my first time ever seeing him and i love it. the asking price is 100. Is this a fair price?
with the recent m1go reissues (of just the kure kure takora mini and standard), the kure kure takora stuff has been selling for higher prices recently. but the mandarake price still seems a tad bit high.
thanks for the input. spending 100 on a toy i have no knowledge of is kind of absurd. I’ll wait for prices to die down a bit
@ultrakaiju - Thank you, Steve, I also like how the header matches lil' Hedorah's aged vinyl color pretty well. He has turned a bit orange over the years compared to some other examples that have retained the more pristine original yellow vinyl. I don't believe the Bullmark employees were matching up the header very closely when packing minis back in the day. What is more likely is that they were printing the most popular header of the time and popping the minis that were still selling. Check out this Gojira with a Mirrorman header: (not mine, I wish!)
I think its been rebagged.. thee are other staple holes in the header and the plastic bag should really be folded over at the top then stapled
@scobot - Scott, resealed for sure, but how about the Toho stamp on the header card itself? The Hedorah I picked up also has a legit Toho stamp on a Tsuburaya-themed header card.
Yeah I guess its all up for debate.. I agree there is some anomaly there, it just my feeling that there is a lot of tomfoolery nowdays with bagged vintage
It's true, I also always tend to bare a little skepticism, but also don't buy too many packaged toys. Another factor to consider is, I could easily see some situations where toys were repackaged contemporaneously, and thus not exactly attributable to dodgy sellers (e.g. very eager kids - whom I can relate too!, or usual store damage from handling, etc.). That and, as Mark said, just using what was at hand at the factory, which I think we can see even with paints and such. Anyways, original packaging is always a very nice bonus, but I see it as more of an 'accessory' to a lot of toys, versus a sign of condition/being mint/etc. And for this reason too, the decision to open or not has to be evaluated based on the example and personal choice.
Got a few new minis in. The front row are recent mandarake scores and the back came in my last big box. Even small box days are a big deal when youre in quarantine mode.
I pulled all my Toho minis together for a big group photo. My vintage are outnumbered, but I wanted to show some appreciation for the recent Bullmark reissues of the UFO set with the new Gojira sculpt (third row) in four different variations (the glow set is just adorable), along with my never-ending love of the M1GO reissues.
^ Heart warmed, soul soothed. So great to see all of these beasties hanging out together, and I've learned that I have a special affection for that red-pronged Anguiras. Any chance you'd be willing to single out the whole of the UFO crew for a snap? First I've heard of the new take and I'm curious about every facet.
What a great lineup! I got the blue vinyl/green paint/cream paint belly Angilas this week, I want to complete the entire run eventually.
Thank you, David. The spines on the back of the Anguirus are the same color as well. It's kind of a metallic magenta hue. Below is the first reissue of the UFO set with the vintage paint tribute. I believe Bullmark chose to resculpt the Gojira to have him more in proportion with the other characters. I do love the vintage mini goji, but he did have an enormous noggin, and this also gives the goji articulation at the waist to match the other two. I think it's quite an adorable resculpt with the playful attack pose, and does indeed fit really well for interaction with the group: There are three other variant sets in the wild, but here is the glow set for fun.
