While I think it's safe to say your heart may be in the right place @MyVinylVeins , your follow-through is lacking. To @Michael Beverage 's point, you haven't done anything that actually helps anyone. Platitudes are nice, but they're just that; platitudes.

Jack from Soft Vinyl Garden, on the other hand, is doing a lotto for an MVH one-off and he's raised $1900 last I heard for the fires in Australia. Donating an amazing toy from one of the hottest artists in the scene has a very tangible positive outcome, and that's why I see a ton of people sharing his work and people being....less positive towards this thread.

Just step back for a second here, stop being so defensive, stop patting yourself on the back and I think you'll find your time here much better off.

@Michael Beverage- I belong to a group that has been working to create supplies for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. As I said, there is little we can do from across the world, but supplies seem to be very much needed, so we’re doing what we can. We have been sewing and knitting joey pouches, koala mittens, nest for birds and rodents, wraps for bats ect. Getting supplies over there seems to be the biggest issue. We’ve had some luck with shipping spots popping up and we even had someone donate a plan that we’ve filled with supplies. There is a gofundme set up to help offset shipping costs if anyone is interested... donating to other organizations that can help with medical supplies is another way people can help. I’m going to bring up the tree planting/home building idea to my group as well. So sad, what’s happening

    @kid_miracleman- I responded to only a couple
of comments. No defenses here, I’ve been ignoring the negativity as this handful of people, that have given issues in the past, do not speak for their entire country. Platitudes is not a word I use to describe someone who is actually lending a hand. I just didn’t want to boast about my efforts as I’m not looking for pats on the back. Seems that made no difference so, in response to some comments, I mentioned what we’ve been doing here. I am helping the best way I can and I don’t believe any amount of help or kind word should be ridiculed or viewed as not being good enough. I commend Jack, it’s a wonderful thing he’s doing. I have nothing of value to donate and my financial situation will not allow me to donate such a large amount of funds. I invite you to read my response to Micheals comment if you care to know what we’ve been doing. If you are in Australia, stay safe.

2 pages, you have said multiple times that you belong to a group and have said now a few times on what the group does, yet have never once named them or given more info on how someone can donate to this cause that is hurting some our fellow board members.
Not to mention you have posted so much defending yourself saying the same things, i literally have smashed my head on the desk and wall. You defended yourself once, it’s enough. People are going to respond how they feel accordingly. Saying the same things over and over isn’t going to change it. To be honest when i read your other post on how to delete a thread and it was odd to begin with.

Hey how do you delete a thread? Also, I’m deeply saddened about the Australian fires, i know many of our members here are from Australia. We are rooting for you. That literally was your post more or less.

Soooooo Australia, my heart goes out for ya, but first how do i take care of me and my needs by learning how to delete a thread i made 2 of, and instead of perhaps asking how to delete the double thread, on the double thread! I’ll make a third thread asking how to delete the double thread, and then also show my sympathy for Australian once I’m done taking care of me.

Alright everyone. Did you use the potty? Grab a snack? Gather around

Already seems to be spinning but I think this may possibly less about the Australian disaster than @MyVinylVeins, as a n00b, looking to take the moral high-ground.

I'm sure that whatever she/we/anyone does is coming from the right place . . . but someone who's jumped on board a little over 3 months ago stating the bleeding obvious to guys that have been around up to 10 years in their own house is never going to sit well.

As a polite notice to the over zealous n00bs and lurkers out there . . . slow and steady wins the race! Read more, post less and don't fan the flames if you get called out (no pun intended!)

    Stay safe. Stay safe.

Impossible for an egomaniac narcissist, that @MyVaricoseVeins obviously is. She doesn't take kindly to friendly advice, apparently.

I will readily admit this place can be borderline misanthropic sometimes. Maybe that's the nature of collecting toys of monsters that usually terrorize humanity

Nonetheless, I highly recommend you step back for a minute to try and realize that maybe it's not the greatest idea to tell people whose join dates are from a decade ago how this place should operate, because right now, this is you

Too many Mickey Nags coming making too much fire. Glenn tried to warn you but now he’s paying the price of this Mickey nag heat wave.

@MyVinylVeins - People here can be brutal, think carefully about your posts.

@badteethcomics - I'm sending thoughts and prayers to your pessimism

    Everyone else move along.

We all know some of you don't like noobs, and some of you have beef with Glenn. Both sides are taking a horrible and devastating situation and making it about their personal causes, whether you mean to or not. In a shit world, I'd like to think we can escape into a hobby that brings us all joy.

Yes, and @MyVaricoseVeins is the newest psychopath who's been allowed entry into this voluntary asylum of dolly collectors.

Yep, and most of the time that is the case, i would say. This sort of stuff is just blips.

    @JMRampage- thank you

@animator- The last thing I wanted was for this to turn into a negative thread. There’s enough of that in the world already. I’m sorry you had to intervene. Aside from the couple of initial comments, I haven’t been, nor will I be responding to, anything other than friendly remarks. My apologies.

Anyone with interest in contributing, Michael Beverage provided links in his above comment that came recommended. Or, if you have some skills with sewing/knitting, you can join https://www.facebook.com/groups/arfsncrafts/?ref=share . This Facebook group has become a hub for crafters to find patterns and information on making wild life rescue supplies. Even if you can’t sew or knit, recruiting people who can is a great help. We are regularly provided with updates by rescue workers with what supplies are in need. Information of how to get supplies over there, cost effectively and efficiently is provided as well. The more hands we have in this the better, especially for the nests as they are very slow to make. So yes, it’s a Facebook group, but it’s so much more. Any contribution, large or small, helps.

One thing to consider when you are looking to assist in times of crisis is whether you can help within existing channels of support.

It isn't uncommon in situations such as the one in Australia for well meaning people to become secondary victims, create logistical problems and/or use up resources (including time) that could be better spent tackling the primary crisis.

One example of the above is this: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/knitters-koala-mittens-australia-a4331696.html

Working to support existing response efforts and ensuring you know exactly what they require before sending it, or showing up to 'lend a hand' is essential, if you do not wish to compound the problem.

Sums it up perfectly! Using a national disaster to get brownie points on this board is what pissed me off from the get go. From the start it came off as "haha sorry I'm n00b and here's a really obvious and annoying question but don't be mad at me because I love koala". Not bullying, not being a troll, this isn't "harrassment" as Mr Sensitive posted on page 1... Just being 2 real 4 ya.

Anyway some guys have posted some solid links here - and without demanding a thank you for it - so thank you guys for being sincere and thoughtful with your support :)

@Mr Fox- agreed and it’s good you pointed this out. The group I’m in gets updates directly from rescuers as to what they need made. People are also making art and stuffed animals to auction off and help raise money to send over. It’s a good source for organizing. The last thing we want to do is create a logistical nightmare and be counter productive.

Those in Australia, what is it that you need? What can the rest of the world do to help you out? Are there certain organizations that you deem trust worthy that you’d like us to share or contribute to?

In reality we need more support for the firefighters. A lot of people assisting with the fires are working as volunteers. The prime minister Scott Morrison has gone on record to say that supporting our volunteers is not a priority because they are there by their own choice. These people have to sacrifice their own jobs and it looks like there are still many months ahead. Recently due to severe backlash of these comments there has been talks of support being rolled out however it's meant to be a long, bureaucratic process making it nigh impossible to attain and only available to a select few. Donate to firefighters below:
    NSW: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/about-us/fundraising
    QLD: https://www.rfbaq.org/donate-to-rfbaq

The most tragic thing about these fires is that they were predicted 12 years ago and members in parliament including the PM have continually declined meetings with climate scientists and fire chiefs warning of this outcome. Adding to this, the Government has attempted to criminalise protesting within Australian but thankfully the people's voice is too damn strong to be stopped now .However, we can still see this authoritarian sentiment in fire ravaged communities that denounced Scott on public television, as they were soon visited by armed police in order to put a gag on potential journalism. As an outsider you might be asking whats with the Australian government and climate change denial as well as disdain for populist opinion? The answer lies in both our Labour and Liberal Government sects having their pockets lined by offshore coal mining companies. Despite everything, they are still looking to build the Adani mine in order to make more profit at the risk of killing our country through further carbon emissions. I believe that by taking a second to adding your signature the below petition (it's free!) for a royal commission into the bushfires could be a vote for refutation against political economic corruption (this has already been noticed by the Govt itself):
    https://www.change.org/p/the-prime-...nto-the-australian-bushfires-of-2019-and-2020

Amidst losing so many homes, millions of hectares of land and human lives, we have also lost around 500 million animals in the fires. Any donations towards https://www.wires.org.au/donate/emergency-fund would be appreciated in helping rescue wildlife. Thank you.

@skaldavsatanssol- thank you for sharing. Petition signed has been signed. I’ll share the links provided to some of my groups and, hopefully, get some more signatures/funding.
