As many of us dive deeper down this rabbit hole, we begin to find certain artists and/or figures that we can't help but gravitate towards. Often times, they end up becoming a collection within a collection. I think it happens with most all of us...it’s part of the process, we find those special pieces that just speak to us on a deeper level. Sometimes a collector may choose to focus solely on those pieces, other times a collector may choose to continue collecting random pieces alongside their favs. Me personally, I lean towards the later. I like to collect anything that gives me "that feeling". Personally, I like an eclectic aseptic and find it lends itself to an element of surprise and wonder, giving the viewer a new experience with every glance. My taste naturally lends itself to an overall cohesive look despite the diversity. Bright color ways tie together the strange, cute and creepy critters that grace these shelves. I do find certain sculpts have a tendency to give me "that feeling" more often and I just end up with more of them as a result lol. So tell me, what is your collecting style? Is your vinyl garden neatly planted with pretty maids all in a row or is your garden strewn with wild flowers. Photos welcome <3

Adding a photo, I took, of my first micro UU ( mine is the painted guy :)), nestled into a row, on a friends shelf. The rest of these uglys are his, grrr lol. I have since acquired a few more of my own and am hunting down some that I hope to, someday, find.

To be honest, the recent wants link on your profile update is not cool.

There is a specific thread for wants that we've all been using for years. You are coming across as a over excited n00b by pushing like this. Do you think your wants are more important than all the other members here?

Of course there is nothing wrong with enthusiasm, but these new threads you keep starting all seem very similar. Relax, if you're in this hobby for the long haul, what's the rush?

I think you have reached your new thread limit through 2022. You’ve been here shy over a month and have started more new threads per day percentage then some of the top posters on this board.

TBH, I think solely* replying to only this, very small part, of my post is rather rude and, perhaps would have been more appropriately addressed in a private message. I don't mind a response along side a "hey, you're new, maybe leave that part out" but if all you intended to do was put me on blast then PM me dude, it isn't that hard. Furthermore you're going put down my posts? What's similar exactly? My writing style, or the content? lol whatever dude, I didn't realize the sensitivity level was so high, I'll take the shit down, no fucks given. I'd just like to point out that I see many users with a link to their wants in their signatures, which is why I added mine, all I did was shout mine out seeing as how pertained to this topic. Not sure how that makes you believe that I think my collection is more important, but whatever lol. We're all collectors here and IDGAF how long you're collecting, n00b or OG, if you're not enthusiastic about your finds anymore then whats the point?

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that the new topic enthusiasm is to encourage more discussion and interest, if I might offer some humble advice, please try to run a search to see if there are existing topics or even something vaguely similar to what you would like to discuss, and post there. A lot of us are a bunch of old fogies, we like to see discussions consolidated into a continuous topic. From a nerdy point of view, consolidation is also a nice way to archive photos, advice, stories, mind burps, etc... Each Board has it's own "culture" and "feel", good luck navigating the shark filled waters! ;)

Apologies if this topic has been discussed guys. I don't have much time to search as I'm at work rn and haven't really gotten a good feel for where everything is on this forum. Also, I like to write...I'm an artist, dancer and writer/ poet, so when I think of a topic I'd like to discuss, my immediate reaction is to just lay it down...words kind of just spill out of me... Force of habit. I'll be more mindful next time...or maybe just back off starting topics all together for a while until I'm more familiar with whats already been discussed.

It’s good to get new folks on the board, this place would wither and die if we didn’t. That being said...the search function really is your friend. It can be tedious and frustrating but well worth the effort.

^^^ thank you. I'll start the thread you can transfer these to. I have some of these also... Worlds smallest is a line of toys I became so passionate about once they came out because its exactly what i had envisioned. I grab one Re Ment blind box every trip to new york at toy tokyo because i feel those are a decent scale to my toys i collect as bizarre accessories. Collections to the 4th power coming soon!

Does it though? Yes, I talk about collecting specific figures but the questions I asked were was really more about your collecting style, overall. Not just the collections within your collections but also if you tend to stick specific figures along side random pieces. Are people not realizing that? I need to figure out a way to edit the name of the thread...

You can group them into one. Just because it’s topic specific doesn’t mean it’s topic specific. As Grace said earlier,
Instead of you saying that people aren’t realizing it, maybe you aren’t realizing what this board is about.

Not every topic needs a thread of its own. We don’t need to sift through a bunch of similar topics to find what we need. Consolidation is key.

Is there a way to delete a post? I'm taking this shit down. Didn't realize how easily offended people got over reposted topics...which, apparently, this is.

FYI, I did a few searches and wasn't able to find any threads about collecting styles, which, if you read the post, is really what this thread is about. I cant find way to rename my post though. I spent my lunch hour searching this forum lol, can anyone point me to one?

@foto junkaay - Dude, I like to write. I wanted to get to know people here. I really don't see this as a huge fucking deal but, it seems, it is. My topic hasn't really been discussed from what I can see...in some respects yes, in others not. I didn't join this place to argue, I joined to talk about one of my passions with like minded people. If everyone wants to get on this "group think" gang bang, whatever...I'll take the shit down, just tell me how :D

How about this topic to post anything about your toys in general?
    http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/no-reason-whatsoever.33297/page-186#post-980660

and perhaps just one topic (i.e. "Miscellaneous ramblings to keep you from getting bored") as a catch all for spontaneous mind sharing stuff (that way people can read it, or not).

Sorry you are having to dance on a buttered griddle (with or without bacon :)). Just a helpful hint that SB can be a bit "curmudgeonly", but at the same time, it's also filled with big hairy burly guys with hearts of gold and sweetness of the little kid next door. There is definitely a cultured approach to communications here, which you learn by reading the Boards, searching, and observation. You'll have to be patient with the sharks :)

The amount of use of I and my in this post are a great example of what the disconnect is. You are trying to force the board to bend around what you want, rather than accept the community norms.

@Mr. Humphreys - lol It is what it is. You have to expect, despite age, people who have never tamed that child within are bound to throw a temper tantrum every now and again hahaha. Your description reminds me of a children's book I wrote about a big hairy monster. He had teeth made of rocks, but a heart made of gold lol. Despite this gang bang, I've come across some cool people here, like you ;), thanks again <3. I'm a "n00b" and I stuck my neck out, I was expecting a bite or 2.
