Hello people, it’s getting closer to Halloween so I thought we could share stories with each other about anything ghostly, alien, or weird phenomenon. I always forget to ask people I meet in person.

I haven’t seen any of the former, but I always think about how it would change my perception of the world. I’m not religious so I feel that seeing something along those lines would really affect my view of the world.

Taking that into account, I would really appreciate anyone posting keep it a bit serious with the content.

Guess this isn’t a story but it’s real interesting that Snowden went searching for some of those subjects.

I'm kind of 60 don't believe 40 believe in stuff. Not aliens but paranormal energy. I'm sure aliens exist, it's just way to far to travel across space to insert probes in hillbilly assholes. But I've had some strange ghost like experiences. Though it could always be a really good imagination

I totally forgot that I did have something odd occur around me. I had been dating someone for 4 years and we were hanging at her parents house which was further out past somewhat unincorporated Riverside in CA. The houses out there are a bit spread out. My gf and her mother were getting ready for an event later, I went to Target to get something.

I get back and my gf thanks me for making her bed, wasn’t me. She goes to thank her mom, who doesn’t make her bed as we are both adults, just as she is done showering(?) and she also states she hadn’t done the bed.

The bed was made but her stuffed dolls were all in the middle with a blanket wrapped around in a circle. I said nope and went home early. It felt really eerie seeing that. Of course either one of them could have been messing with us but they weren’t the kind of people to play those kind of jokes on each other. Plus I always felt weird being in that house at night alone long before that occurred.

I’ve seen a few things. I guess I’m one of the few who has actually seen an apparition. In a shitty apartment I lived in during college there were always things like knocks on walls and windows and door knobs would jiggle like someone was trying to open them. One night I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and there was a door directly behind the mirror I was looking in. The door knob began to jiggle which was common so I turned around and opened the door. When I looked back to the mirror there was a bodiless face drifting across the mirror behind me. It didn’t look like flesh, more like a glass head filled with light. It was pretty terrifying.

As a kid I lived out in some of the more "remote" areas of Riverside. I was always terrified of being outside around there at night. My family once had a family friend stay at our house while we were away on vacation. Around 10 or 11 PM one night someone calls the house and tells her they can see her (she was in the master bedroom with all of curtains lifted) and knows that she's there alone. She abruptly hung up and called the police. No one was found on the property or any where near it. Unsurprisingly she decided to stop house sitting for us after that. A more (possibly) paranormal occurrence in the same house: the house was fitted out with this house wide intercom system that also let you listen to the radio through them. There was a period during my early teens where every night between 2 and 3 AM all of the speakers in the house would start blasting some radio station. It was mostly static though since the house was pretty remote. It never woke any one else in my family, to this day I can't convince them this actually happened. So I would have to go into each room to manually turn them off. Now the house was quite large and many rooms had large windows instead of lights, so I'm surprised young me was able to muster up the courage to walk through a mostly dark large house to turn off these radios. I thought (and hoped) that there might have been some sort of alarm clock programmed into the system that was buggy, but after a few moths these occurrences just stopped. My father still lives in this same house and spending the night there always leaves me with an uneasy feeling.

i only ever saw a "ghost" once in my life and it made me rethink what i thought of an afterlife. i thought my familys home had been broken into but the figure who looked like a shaved head teen literally disappeared into my wall and i almost passed out LOL. in the time my family lived there, there were several shootings and stabbings in the alley my apartment faced so there were plenty of dead folks that could become ghosts if thats how that works. if you watch the movie Dope its shot in my old neighborhood which is inglewood in the movie. (they also show the apartment building i got my face tattooed in when i was 17 hehe)

I won’t go into graphic detail but I reckon there’s some truth behind ouija boards. I remember one spelling out my stillborn sister’s name (who my other mate in the room didn’t know about) and then proceeding to say some pretty awful stuff.

Another spooky story which could be either childhood neurosis OR legitimate is that I was on holiday in Bali with family at the hotel pool. A friendly enough middle aged man was coercing me to dive in and make a splash in his area. I did so and almost drowned (Guess it was the deep end). Upon being rescued by my cousin, all onlookers and family assured me that there was never any man in the pool that day who could’ve beckoned me.

when i lived in my last apartment i was doing a bunch of funky demonology stuff and it got to the point where it was SO uncomfortable to be in there that id stay at my buddies down the street. i read online that it was important to address an entity if it was in there. like "i live here now" kind of stuff. its almost halloween and i cant even get into spooky stuff because it was god damn 90 degrees in the valley all week

Any recommended reading for said demonology? Not that I’d partake, purely for an educational angle.

"The Encyclopedia Of Demons & Demonology" by Rosemary Ellen Guiley is a good reference book. It contains over 400 entries on demons from different cultural and religious traditions.

Whether it's demons or ghosts or some sort of supernatural being from another plane of reality. They have no real power over you. If you ever feel haunted you just need to tell the being, in a clear commanding voice, "You have no power over me!" I know it sounds stupid. But it seems to me the more people believe the more power these beings possess. I've also heard this from a couple of different people who swear they see ghosts.

I have a lot of stories spanning from being a kid in my childhood home, right to the night it all started, until my family and me moved out when I turned 17. But they’re pretty lengthy, and I enjoy sharing them in person. So, please, feel free to find me at DCon if you want some spooky short stories! :D

And I’m in full belief of the idea, that, the more attention you give to spirits/entities/whatever you choose to call them, the more you susceptible you are to their effects.

My grandmothers house is super haunted but only seems to occasionally decide to spook someone. Various members of my family all have spooky tales of their own too. On the weekends as a kid, my parents would let me spend the night at my grandmothers house. My cousins would stay too so it was never just me. My grandmother is an overly religious person, and claims that because she has “the love of jesus christ” nothing will harm her. Even now as she’s losing a battle to stomach cancer she is as steadfast on her beliefs as ever. Anyways, one night while everyone was asleep, my cousins and I would all sleep in the same room as my grandmothers (we’d just sleep on the floor) I wake up and see someone standing by the doorway. My uncle was sleeping in a room close to hers so I just thought it was him messing with me and went back to sleep. At some point in the night I wake up again and see that the person was still there. I manage to ask in a whisper “Tio Jeremiah is that you?” Didn’t get a response. Freaking out a little bit I flip to the other side facing my grandmothers bed and force myself to sleep. I wake up again and find the motherfucker still there. Even with my eyes adjusted to the darkness I couldn’t figure out who the hell it was. I’ve told my grandmother this story and she doesn’t believe me lol.

While living in Albuquerque, I was about 8 or 9 when this happened. One night around 3am my family woke up to the sounds of doors slamming. As we all investigated the house, we found that both the front and the backdoor of the house were left wide open. All the cabinet doors in the kitchen were left open and nothing seemed to be missing. My father said it was just someone fucking with us. It was pretty odd because he always installed deadbolt locks where we lived. At that age I always associated the event with ghosts as any kid would. Always felt puzzled by that night, so whoever/ whatever did it.. mission accomplished, I’ve had anxiety about locking doors at night all my life.
