My girlfriend got me surprise tickets to Smackdown for my birthday last week and it was a fun time! Live wrestling shows are always better than the televised version. That being said, NJPW is coming to the east cost this year! Are any of you fine folks going? I'll be all over those Lowell, MA tickets when they become available. The G1 has been fantastic so far.
I watch all WWE current roster stuff (I am behind on NXT though) NJPW, AEW, and go to most local indie shows/big promotion shows. I didn't read the 5 pages before this, but YEAH! I'm here for wrasslin talk!
Seeing this wayyy late but I went to Phily at the 2300 Arena. Saw the G1 Supercard at MSG on Wrestlemania weekend and it is still the best live wresting show I've EVER SEEN. NJPW is the greatest promotion out there.
So who has been watching AEW? Now that it has been around for a month I gotta say I am pleased as punch.
I've been watching since the beginning. Saw two live shows so far (A Dynamite tv taping and the most recent Full Gear PPV) It has been such a breath of fresh air, especially since Vince seems to be losing his damn mind again lately with the shitball storylines. haha. Some of the best live wrestling I've seen outside of NJPW!
Been watching and following AEW since All In, and I was lucky enough to see Double or Nothing live. I love AEW! That's out of the way... This is hard for me to admit. I don't agree with some of the decisions they've been making.. from the get go they were saying wins and losses will matter, getting over will matter, actual skill and showmanship will matter. So why the hell do the Bucks always lose? Why does Kenny fucking Omega always lose? ... In what fucking universe does Riho deserve the mega push she's gotten when Bea Preastley gets nothing? Where was Darby Allen in this last ppv? .... Ok... Admission..I actually couldn't justify paying $50 for full gear, none of the matches interested me.. so if Darby Allen got a match at FG I'll withdraw that, I also couldn't find the Buy In anywhere. Why is Sammy getting a mega push with the inner circle when Kip Sabien, who beat Sammy in the first official AEW match, is stuck on the sidelines? Maybe I'm in the minority but, I'm not into these hardcore trash wrestling matches like (I heard) the Kenny/Moxley match was.. Kenny is far and away my favorite wrestler and for all of the "the best in the world" shit Jim Ross talks about, if you hadn't seen him on NJPW you wouldn't believe it. I know I'm marking out hard... I am in full support of AEW, and I'm so happy for and proud of the bucks (.. and Cody I guess..) for making this promotion into what it is. I just hope they don't keep heading down the same tired "you know wrestling is fake" path as WWE... Also I've really enjoyed AEW Dark, if you haven't checked it out of definitely recommend it! (Reluctantly turns on NJPW)
I didn't get to sit down and properly watch any matches. Saw highlights through out my 'Gram feed though and it looked amazing (as usual)
I'm watching matches here and there. Enjoyed (but also not) the Thunder Liger retirement match. I was surprised Hiromu teamed with Dragon Lee, I guess no hard feelings there! Seeing Hiromu back in the ring has been great though, his match with Ospreay was another good one! Trying to remember which matches I've watched now.. maybe I should have waited to write a post until I could organize my thoughts! I couldn't really get into the Juice/Moxley match, and lot because Moxley isn't really my favorite style. I liked him as Dean, but the ultra violent brawler thing isn't really something I get into. I will say though Moxley/Suzuki seem well matched and would be interesting to watch. Still have a lot of matches to watch, but I've been so wrapped up in AEW that I forgot how much I enjoy NJPW! Looking forward to watching Okada v Naito!
