Just a little more of the horde to feast your eyes on! Goddamn gorgeous paints! View this post on Instagram
I finally got around to shooting and editing these, in the black box at least, and WOW. I can’t believe how many layers Paul was able to intricately and seamlessly lay down on multiple points and angles of this release, my favorite, once again, being the “burning” tips of the wings! And the fact that it’s a loose Devilman tribute, while still being signature PK, is always sure to impress. Can’t wait to execute the “outdoors” photo I have in mind. Spoiler
Really excited to have scored a purple Boss Carrion from Sunday's shop update. Will be my first by PK!
Congratulations, @Bill! That’s a damn fine first PK score!!! Be sure to share your wares here when you receive your just deserved: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/boss-carrion.35991/
With the return of Summer Slime also came the return of the Machine Gun Ghost. This version, Pop o’ Matic, is both attractive and fun, with inspiration deriving from the dice rolling, pop mechanism found in the classic Kohner game, Trouble, where the name is also seized and repurposed. This is because of the single die that resides inside of the bowler hat adorned atop MGG, emulating said pop mechanism. And even beneath that die you’ll find an official PK seal! I didn’t notice until halfway through the event, but I picked up the balloon dog omake and noticed a quartet of die inside of its nose. Yet another fun, little detail only Paul himself could come up with, in my opinion. The spray colors on this slime green base jump out so nicely. There’s a lot of subtle breathing that happens with the green lamé vinyl, but the hints of slightly darker green sprays in the hair and partially on the suit give it a nice contrast between the two shades. Everything just bounces so nicely off of this version! This was bagged and headered, but with it double bagged it looked foggy in photos. Spoiler
So cool Robert! There were so many amazing pieces at the event, hard to pick a favorite.. Those MGG would’ve definitely been my pick though.
MGG is my favorite @Paulkaiju sculpt. I remember scoring the Clockwork orange run at DCON and man, it just has so much life in it. MGG reminds me of those old cartoons with the big dumb pit bull that takes orders from the little pipsqueek dog running the show
@rattanicus @Beantime Thank you both very much!!! Paul’s table had a plethora of amazing works, but goddamn, this one really just struck that “right” chord with me. All artists involved did amazing. It was really great to see so much variety in style and art and toys! @The Moog It was some pretty damn special vinyl. Seein’ sunlight come through on it especially in a summer sky! The half paints Paul had accomplished were especially amazing because his color choices complimented the blank half fully! @kid_miracleman The MGG is tied for favorite sculpt alongside Gyochō with me. I can’t pick one over the other, but I do love the MGG. Total Rat Fink gangster vibes, and I think you hit the nail on the head with the cartoon reference. That Clockwork Orange homage was fuckin’ spot on.
Nekomei is such a fantastic feline. Paul's lolita - lookin' one off from Stranger Factory has been my favorite to date. Would definitely like to get one with the rest of the gang!
I got my SS3 Machine Gun Ghost in the mail yesterday! Certainly have been wanting to add one of these fellows since he debuted.. So this is one hellavuh first get for me! Completely blown away.. From the slimy clear green glitter vinyl to the impressively executed (as always!) signature PK paint application.. The colors work so incredibly well with this base vinyl, I can't get over it! Absolutely something that needs to be seen/held in hand in person to be fully appreciated. My favorite detail of course and what made me fall in love with this particular release is the 'Pop O Matic' top hat feature with dice inside! This is exactly the kind of stuff that keeps my interest in this hobby. It's something new and fresh without being an edgy or over the top homage.. It's this kind of stuff, good clean, wholesome fun, that sparks that childlike joy that I believe, for the most part, is what we are all chasing when it comes to a toy that appeals to us.. Whether it be subconsciously or otherwise. Oh, and I just noticed today that his little balloon dog animal has it's own teeny tiny dice! Even though Robert posted macro close ups of it, somehow I still missed that.. View this post on Instagram Spoiler View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram
