Many of you might have heard about the exhibit showcasing Mark Nagata's story and collection that is running through the end of next March, but here's a short video by Marusan's Kaminaga San about it.
If you are going to be at D Con for any time before or after the show I recommend checking that exhibit out
Any news on Kaiju-con? I'm interested in seeing what the vendors will look like. Also, very excited that the exhibit is getting an extension, will be able to go for a second time!
All I know is that it's scheduled and people have started to send in their paperwork, but no one has absolutely been announced as being selected yet.
Yeah mark is a great dude, He helped start super 7 I believe when It was mainly a magazine not so much stores and toy production and all that .
Had a great time on Saturday! It ended up being one of the more relaxing and inviting events I've been to. No long lines, no flippers, no crazy crowds. Just good friends and toys and panels.
The exclusive Jirass(es) that Marsuan brought looked wild. If anyone's feeling iffy about the pick up, I'm happy to help out.
The show was a lot of fun. Pretty small but really good hanging out. It seemed hit and miss for vendors, some seemed to do really well, others seemed to be sitting around. Hopefully this isn't a 1 time thing, but part of me thinks it is as it coincides with the Kaiju vs. Heroes show. I guess the show sold out, so that is great news for the museum, and motivation for more events like this. I went thinking I'd just browse the floor and maybe buy 1 Marusan toy...then my wife and I bought way too much.
It was cool to meet the president of marusan, eiji himself looks like he really enjoys the hobby and is really genuine. I ended up buying way too much from their booth, but a lot of the other vendors had some really great stuff as well. If anyone purchased a bunch of marusan minis like i, i have 2 ultraman to trade
I totally snoozed on this event, and wish I totally went. Beyond the toys themselves, the gathering of LA collectors would have made attendance worth it by itself.
So this show got mentioned on one of me regular podcasts today, "Jordan, Jesse, Go!", and I had the miserly thought about prices in our hobby taking yet another spike. Then I remembered that the listenership of the show is pretty small, and calmed down. Stupid collector brain!
