@smurph Thank you for the correction and even the name of the release, Sam! It’s great to see you postin’ here again, as well! :D 2015, wow. It’s like a damn blur! But, hey, that’s just a reflection of Paul’s timeless standing. ;) I’m right there with you about the one that popped here for sale. Wasn’t quick enough with a trigger pull! But at least I got to handle the photographed one for a day!

It's hard to fathom that Boss Carrion is almost ten years old. That's crazy. Still one of my favorite alltime sculpts.

I was thinking the same thing a few months ago. It's crazy to see 1 toy going strong after so long and so many releases. Thinking about the first few years at sdcc(pre gunnzo, and pre 5&dime) where Paul hijacked a booth for a few hours to sell out of his bag, and now he has an empire of characters and toys. It's kinda a surreal dream.

5&Dime was my first experience of anything Paul released in 2013. I didn’t understand what lotto systems were, and holy shit, was what he had on display mind blowing. I didn’t even enter because, again, I had no idea what was going on. I just knew the legend by name, and finally got to see what he does with my own eyes.

What I enjoy most about Paul’s toyography(as well as the likes of Joe) is he doesn’t just make toys. He creates and makes characters!!! They’re not just there; they exist. There’s life and a story to ‘em. I feel that’s only one part of the longevity for the love of his characters and how collectors resonate with certain ones.

Boss Carrion truly is one of the great toys of all time. It stands alone. No omake necessary. Just a perfect representation of this hobby. Of the evolution. It has stood the test of time and will continue to do so for years to come!

Though it would have been amazing to have a soft vinyl trunk topper omake like the resin circus girls...maybe one day!

I’ve set the chonky Boss finger puppets on the trunks in the display case. Those seem to fit/sit nicely!

This year for Summer Slime, @animator put together something very special, for a very special artist, that has graced collecting with a very special character/toy. I'd love for him to take the spotlight and elaborate a little more on that, but here is what I had to contribute specifically. It was an honor and a privilege to be asked by David, and to be done for Paul. Also, SUMMER SLIME PHOTOS HERE:

This idea was basically, and admittedly, ripped from the Super 7 Mook. I'm still so fascinated by the layouts of each Toho toy in that book, and I thought it'd be rad to do the same here. All photos were shot and edited by me, but the layout was graciously and gratefully done by @ascendingtom1.

^ As great an argument for recidivism as I've yet seen. I'll still do what I can to keep to my (now softened) one-per-sculpt rule, but every year I understand a bit more how someone could be compelled to collect the 'same' toy over and over again.

Thank you, David. I will say, though, seven of those 13 were borrowed from local friends, while the remaining six belong to me. Even still, I do thoroughly enjoy having multiple versions of the same toy, and the Boss Carrion absolutely is one of them.

A bit of personal history that nobody will care about: My eyes first met that elephant back in mid '11 in the very same haul photo here where I first really noticed a little maker called ButaNoHana. I remember thinking at the time that the taller toy looked a bit busy, a bit psudo-spiritual and that it seemed to be reaching for the East in a way that I wasn't sure if something so clearly Western could ever grasp. I was intrigued, but I suppose you could say that I was unimpressed. Admittedly, my entire nervous system was a bit overwhelmed in that moment by trying trying to process how wholly shaken I was by having just laid eyes on the greatest Ultraman monsta dollie that had ever been created! Anyway...

My esteem for the Boss C has only grown over the years, especially as Paul's universe of characters has grown around it, and it now sits in my mind at a comfortable second to Sally, my favorite of his creations.

Very cool concept for this zine. And perfect photos from Robert. I wish I could have come to summer slime 3. It was in part a decision not to go only because I am making the trek to Dcon this year! All the pics from the show I have seen look so good. I have a friend that got me a zine from the show and I can’t wait to check out all the artist renditions of the boss. Great job to all that was involved.

That serbet boss hit the top of my wants immediately.

Ima have to hound this place to find one.

Im always, already jelly of all that get to make it out to what has always seemed to me as the toy event of the year. Grats to Paul on the continuous success, nobody deserves it as much as he does.

He's also redistributing that by having others take part in it as well. <3
