Ill have to make it next year. Many thanks go ot to a few friends for grabbing some of the pieces I had my eye on for me!

So many great new releases. Splurrt, Rampage, Violence Toy, Justin ishmael, Real Head/Punk drunkers, and lulubell really brought some heat!

The Itokin Park stuff was all sold to vendors. I was the first VIP in line, but bailed because I knew it would all be gone. Good con, got some amazing scores. Sour Lemon was amazing on Saturday for pushead, was ran pretty well. Definitely the most hectic Dcon I've ever been to, but it was well worth it.

Look at all of that killer Pushead! It must be awesome to open a box of that many toys, even if you only got one.
Like pulling a tray of cookies out of the oven...sort of.

    Quantity overload!!!

okay guys the post that evom is replying to is my post and is now removed. I was angry that I did not get any itokin park, and went on a tantrum. but I should not have attacked sour lemon booth like that. They are doing a great job just bringing these toys to us.

once again, I apologize for my childish behavior, evom is not replying to shadow 4437.

A few other points brought up by various vendors:

People spend less money at conventions in Anaheim. There were a couple (unrelated) vendors who said that they quit Wondercon (D-Con will be in the sam Anaheim location) because people would just buy a few items and then spend most of their money at the massive and massively expensive Disneyland in the same area.

Many Japanese vendors aren't thrilled with having to suddenly find out where to stay, where to eat, what neighborhoods are like, etc in a new and unfamiliar city. A lot of these makers have been coming to D Con for years and know the lay of the land, so this is a minus. It doesn't help that Anaheim is more like LA where it is spread out and has a less neighborhood feel.

Pasadena is, frankly, more upper middle-class mobile and residents there have more disposable income. A lot of vendors I talked to mentioned this in sometimes roundabout ways but gave them concern.

Nonetheless I'll be there. I have friends with shops there so I might actually tattoo for a day or two before D-Con as well.

I'm not a fan of the move, I enjoy the Pasadena area so much more, due to staying like a block from the con. Also the fact the convention is 3 days is kind of too much for me personally, this year was extremely hectic, so I'm curious to see what will come with the bigger convention center and the extra day.

I've been going to Pasadena since 07' the first anniversary of VTN (before the name change). Admission was free.
I feel old as fuck just typing that first part out.
can't believe its been a decade.

started downstairs in an adjacent building. small room, 20 vendors or less...
still was bad ass and such a great time... as times change venue gets bigger. SDCC random 1 day event in a sweaty musty warehouse. We did the ice rink one year, before this new hall... then then that hall got bigger, then hall c. DCON is insane now. Saturday was absolutely nuts. to be fair Itokin was nowhere near as crazy last year as it was this year. I started there last year and got some good scores. I was really up in the air of how to start this year, I decided I'd try there, as I walked in I saw the line around the room, and quickly said nope and left. that's totally fine, it is what it is. I went to rampage, missed the rotten ball I had hoped to get 2 people in front, no big deal either. stopped by stranger factory and had help to get some clyde heads for some headless bodies I have. after that, it was just sifting aisles and awaiting pus.

There was a few surprise releases I didn't know about until they were gone. I usually am glued to my phone when at home to stay on top of this stuff. yet when a convention hits. I don't really have the phone out. I'm in the moment, so I forget to snag pictures of stuff I like, pictures with friends, booths, all that. I just counted, I took maybe 20 pictures total from Wednesday thru Sunday. so the surprise drops suck for me haha.

Raffles... Gargamels was good, I like how they did that. good way to help kill that line real quick. everyone has a fair share at it, its literally down to luck. The IG raffles were weird... that being said, I happened to be on my phone and with friends doing the Kumon raffle, and entered. Later Mikee is calling me because Danny is trying to find me because he couldn't pick until I did. I was in line to buy food, needless to say I didn't eat at that moment. haha. I had entered a few other raffles through IG, but didn't even bother to see if I had won, it was kind of hectic. that some booths were doing lotto, but not doing lotto? some of the release practices just had me confused to where I didn't wanna deal with it.

Paul brings the heat and in massive quantities, not to mention he has his system down. it runs smooth as can be given there's 300 or so in the lotto.

Punk Drunkers/RxH, I don't really collect, so I don't get in the lines. I did have a few friends that I was standing not in line but to the side just talking and getting stares from our overseas ongoers looking at me like ima take their profits from them. I would even just walk up to these booths with the stupid lines, just so I could see what is available. I had no desire to purchase, but still wanted to see what had everyone so goo goo ga ga for. I don't even know the Buta pieces that were at Gargamel, nor did I even try Sat. (same time as pus I think?) But the little dude in the Gee was dope. there actually was a bunch of dope ass indy shit on the floor. I saw a lot that I know my old collecting habits would of allowed me to fill my bag in a few aisles. However that's just not me anymore. I walked the whole convention at least 3-4 times though and I'd check back in hoping to see some of these dudes sell out, as they were great designs and such.

    now Anaheim and moving forward
First off I think 3 days is simply a bad bad idea.
Saturday was NUTS NUTS NUTS off the jump... but if you stayed most of the day... by 5 pm it was pretty dead in the hall and easier to walk around for sure. my haul was pretty much done Sat, and simply awaiting Pauls lotto for Sunday. granted for others they had gargamel, punk drunkers, etc, etc sunday. But sunday was nowhere near as crazy as Saturday... Pauls lotto started 1, I think I got through being #45 said my goodbyes and was on the road back home by 2. basically the point of this paragraph is that 2 days is far more than enough:
more space for booths/ assuming higher cost as well
willing to bet admission goes up as well
    extra day of hotel/airbnb costs
Anaheim has more hotel/food options, but higher rates
Disneyland can be a positive or negative.
more days = more stress on vendors and consumers.
distance is always nice in Pasadena. nice to be able to walk out the door of Sheraton and be at the con, or a block away at Hilton.

We were pushed out of SDCC and NYCC pretty much at this point...
nerd is now in, the it thing to do...
the thing is... when we had a decent part of sdcc in 2006-2013/2014ish... it was a decent core crowd that we were dealing with mixed in with the bigger sdcc comic/gaming/etc etc crowd.
now it's changing. While it's awesome to see the beast grow... at the same time, stressful.

that being said I know i'll still be there, all 3 days.

    yes, I ... a lot.

It was awesome meeting everyone. I had a great time finally meeting all you folks I've been virtually interacting with for years. I didn't get a single toy I was after and honestly could not care less. I came for the toy camraderie and was not dissappointed.

I do have to say it was pretty nutty in terms of the size and numbers of people. Way more than I expected, but anything good becomes a victim of its own success these days.

I really wish I had gotten my head out of my ass 5 years ago to travel to shows and cons. Hindsight is 20/20.

Hi there, I really would have liked to see your post so I could address your concerns but thank you for taking a step back and keeping the peace. If someone wants to let me know the basic concerns that were mentioned I’d like to respond to them in case there are any lingering ill thoughts.

Hi Henry, how you run your booth is your business but I'd like to give some constructive criticism. One way to spread the wealth is to limit sales to one piece per person/household and have them chose one color and not sell one of each colorway to each person. I've seen a few pics (like the one below) showing how people bought one or more of each Astronaut color. I don't know if it was you or Kazu handling the Astronaut sales, I never made it to the booth, but if it was Kazu maybe mention it to him next year? Asking people to chose just one colorway would certainly extend the sales to more than a few dozen people. Just a thought, thanks for listening

Here's most of what we got. A lot of these toys, and a big reason we go, is for my daughter. This has become our big annual trip, and we all enjoy running into our toy friends. I was less enthused this year because I HATE CROWDS, and I actually stood in line for an hour (again for the kid) which I would never do otherwise. It was really hectic, and soooo many people in the crowd were oblivious assholes. I doubt we'll go next year, but never say never. Really bummed I missed the Raji Reco record player girl!

I second this, I saw the same post on IG and it was annoying. One colorway per is fair but it seemed like people had more than that. Would be nice if vendors had to get in line with others outside instead of lining up inside before the doors open.

Thanks for the info! Very much appreciated. That picture is crazy and disturbing for sure. We didn't let people buy more than one of the same item and for the Red/Blue/Yellow Space Mode Men we only let them pick one. The items in that picture were probably bought by three people.

At The Sour Lemon booth we aren't run like the usual booth. It's basically several different events/releases that take place one after another. For each release I let the artists make the decisions on how to sell their items. So Itokin Park (Kazu) set his rules, Pushead set his, and so on. With Shirahama we did a lottery. All different systems. I did give my suggestions, including limiting purchases to one per person and even making exhibitors leave the first 10 spots for non vendor badge holders, but ultimately it's up to the artist. So as a collector myself I totally get it and I'll continue to offer my recommendations but the artists will always get the last call.

Same thing happened with us in Australia - we limited purchases to make it fair for everyone, however some people feel the need to be greedy and bend the rules. One guy paid a bunch of locals to line up with him and we didn't catch on until after purchases were made and a chunk of toys from SVM3 ended up going to the one owner. I'm sure a similar tactic was used at Dcon for these itokin figures..

I’m not in the states at the moment, but I heard it’ll be 3 days and in Anaheim, ugh. As someone that worked at Disneyland for 5+ years, the move will suck. Traffic that way is always shit, especially on Friday. It will definitely be more expensive for people flying in since they will also be booking rooms that Disneyland attendees are trying to get.

The whole visiting Disneyland at the same time doesn’t make sense since most pass holders live in the area. It wouldn’t make sense for people from out of town to visit during the con. I guess doing after Sunday does, but now you’ve been paying for 4-5 days of Disney priced rooms to only visit it for a day.

Doing Friday as preview night makes sense, but I’ve never attended one of those so no experience with them. Either way I’m pretty bummed about the news.

I saw the huge flipper mafia. They would hand all there lotto tickets to one guy.

But i think if every booth did a lotto it cuts it evens everyones chances. And then vendors cant take the 1st 100 spots.
